If you don’t know BC this is sarcasm. Downtown east side is not a place I would recommend for families.
Doesn’t change the facts that parents with 7 and 13 year olds regularly work outside the home full-time
This student is a mature student who wants their family to join them in Canada. Universities don’t allow mature students to join the dorms with other undergrad students of typical age to be in undergrad. It would be extremely unusual to show up and learn your roommate is 40 years old with a family while you are 18. Wouldn’t work for either person. Dorms cater to students at a certain stage of life.
Universities does allow mature students to join the dorms with other undergrad students of a typical age to be in undergrad. It's nothing extremely unusual to show up and learn your roommate is 22 years older than you.
The majority of working mothers work full-time and out of the home in Canada. Most families can not afford for both parents not to work full-time hours. There may be slightly more flexibility now due to Covid but even working from home you are still working. Newcomers are probably more likely to have jobs that don’t have the flexibility to work remotely part of the time or full-time. The majority of 13 year olds with 7 year old siblings are likely latchkey children who come home after school and entertain themselves before a parent gets home an hour or two later. The 13 year old would have a home key or pass code and would babysit their sibling until the parents got home. They also may have paid after school are which is also quite common especially for younger children.
Kelowna is way more expensive than you think, you couldn’t find even one bedroom for $1200 its like $2500+ for 2 bedrooms without utilities. I live in Kelowna.
