Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Just getting my ducks in a row here in anticipation...

When I get my passport stamped for a PR and go to Land, I am planning to Land and then go back to get my stuff (furniture and the like) in the US at a later date. Will the landing/immigration officer give me something (documentation) temporarily to go back and forth to Canada to pick up my stuff in the US since it takes 4 weeks to send the actual PR card to my Canadian address...or do I have to wait for the card to physically arrive and physically have in my hands to proceed on getting my stuff?

Hi,

How you will re-enter Canada without a PR Card?.
The copy of CPR what you get when landed is not an authorised travel document.

I am aware of that. My question is: Do I have to wait until I physically receive my PR card to go back to the states to get my stuff, or do the immigration people give to me (when I land) something in lieu of the PR card (something temporary) so I can get my stuff sooner?

No, you don't need the card if you return by land from US

Somebody who asked about this recently was told that his landing documents would be enough to return if he was coming across the border by car. You should just ask about it when you land. Take down the name of the IO who tells you and when you come back you can at least say so-and-so told me..

My mother-in-law is a PR (US citizen) and she's been crossing the border with no PR card (it expired and she never renewed it) for years and never had any problems. Just have your COPR with you, shouldn't be a problem to drive across the border.

To add to what others have said, if you tell them you're going back to the US and not settling in Canada until a later date, they most likely won't send you your PR card until then. They even asked us for a phone # for our Canadian address so that they can confirm residency.
