Hello. I received PR in Sept of 2019. I started working here in Canada the February of 2019 a couple months after I got my OPEN work permit. (I received my permit just before the holidays in 2018.) I've paid my taxes every year since 2019, and haven't left Canada at all.
PR was such a nightmare in my mind and heart (mainly because I made it that way with my searching the forums), that I dread going through this process again, but I want to be a citizen so badly..to truly say I am a Canadian. I think I am almost mentally ready to tackle it.
Next spring I will have lived in Canada for 7 years and have paid 5 years worth of taxes. I want to be sure I have all of my ducks in a row before I apply.
My QUESTION IS: Do you think that will be a good time to apply? spring of 2024? I will have way more than enough days here to my credit. I do a lot of freelance work, and I want to be sure I can easily document my residence here in Canada.
Any obstacles you all see to this? I have a few T-4's but I also self-employed. If I write self-employed for part of the work history, and I give a sufficient description of what I so..(ESL teacher). Do you think that is okay?
Thank you.
