Depends how long the security checks take.

Are uu talking about security check from her country or does the visa office verify the security check. We handed in our security clearance letter from the police with the application including medical.?

The security checks that CIC does are different that the criminal records (police) checks that the applicant provides. From what I have read here on these forums, security checks are done by CIC to see if the applicant poses any risks to Canada....associations with known criminal/terrorist organizations, etc., and confirming the background information provided on the application (previous addresses and employment history).
