Hi everyone,

Thanks for reading!

I'm filling out paperwork and I have a question.

I arrived (as a tourist) in Canada for the first time in April 2008 and stayed for 2 weeks. Came to live in Vancouver in December 2008 also on a temporary visa. And became a PR in November 2009.

My question is: when I applied for a visa extension (before becoming a PR), I answered the question "Date and place of your original entry to Canada" on IMM 5708, to which I answered April 2008. But now for citizenship they are asking when did I first come to live in Canada, to which I answered December 2008.

But is this accurate? Or should I change and have April 2008 instead of December 2008?

Thanks again!

December 2008.

Your first reply in extension (April 2008) was incorrect, I believe.

It's not the date when you've visited Canada for 2 weeks in both cases.

Thanks for your answer.

The answer to IMM 5708 was correct, though. But the wording was different, that's why I wanted to make sure my answer was correct for CIT 0002, although answer would be different from the one at the first form (extension), which I filled in mid-2009, and got an extension from August 2009 to August 2010, although I only asked for an extension until December 2009. :)

Here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5708E.pdf (page 2)

"Coming into Canada

1. Date of your original entry to Canada

2. The original purpose for coming to Canada"

Which is very different from "Enter the date when you first came to Canada to live." (Calculator; https://eservicesak.cic.gc.ca/rescalc/startBasicCalc.do ) and "When did you first come to live in Canada if different from A?" (page 2 CIT 002; http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/citizen/CIT0002E.pdf ).

I think only you can answer. How long did you live in Vancouver since December 2008? After you got your PR in November 2009, have you ever traveled outside Canada?

I've only left 4 times since coming to Canada in December 2008, each time for a short period of time. I've included all the absences in the calculator.
