When can the cutoff drop at around 480?

Sitting at 481 now and just realized that the last draw was so high. Didn't know when to get selected. Is it necessary for me to start to learn some French as well to gain those 24 points? Need advice. Been a little desperate now.

I would definitely expect that.
Do you have any reasons for the expectation ? Looking into the past, feel like with 1000-1500 ITA the score is only dropped by 2-3 points, so if we assume there is no more draws for 2016, with 4 draws til end of February and with 1000-1500 ITA each draw, we should be looking at 487 ish. Not trying to discredit you, just trying to think about this logically. Personally sitting at 492 and I am still worried I might not get picked by end of Feb, when my work permit expires. :-[

Dynamic pool so one shouldn't expect a linear drop in scores. Additionally, IRCC is expected to draw 2000 or more each draw and that should help the cutoff to fall.

Do you think there is a draw this week?

At 478 with sinking hopes :'(! Work permit expiring in February 2017 and cut off never seems to be in favour. Never thought I would have to quit a nice job because of this bullshit.

I really hope and wish that there's a draw this week and I get an ITA.

You might wanna discuss this with your manager, they might help you with LMIA to score more points/apply for work permit.

I started my express entry profile at 390 points. My initial application to the earlier CEC pre-ExpressEntry system in Dec-2014 was returned since the quota was filled in Oct-14 itself. I tried everything to push my score and now I am sitting at 484 with a little hope.

The idea of providing the score for CEC / students was to boost them with the score to get PR. I think raising the cut-off parallel wont help in any way. With that in mind I believe the score will be dropped down at least to their previous low scores of 470 (at least, with no other real reason) ..
