When Buffalo office will start processing my application??

it has been 2 months already and no change on my application status. everytime i check it,it says application recived and medical result recieved.when they will start processing my application? anyone have any idea?

It is unlikely that CIC knows when they are going to start work on your file.

Be patient.

Don't judge by e-cas what is happening or not. And by the way, you're not going to get a lot of "change on your application status" via e-cas. I think for having your file at the VO for two months, those two updates are quite normal. Oh, and if your medical results have been received, that is already a very good sign that things are progressing for you. If you're really interested, you can order GCMS notes and that will have a lot more information than e-cas. There are people who applied even before March still waiting at Buffalo so you really do need hang in there and be patient.

My wife will visit me for her winter break and we will go vocation together to miami and orlando, so i want to send more photos and etc to buffalo office. can i do it while waiting for process or should i wait till hear from them. Also i have two cousins one works for department of defense in washington dc and the second one is police officer in nypd. they can write a letter about our marriage is genuine and send it to buffalo. the reason i wanna do that because of im white european and my wife is jamican background canadian, so i dont want them to give us hard time.

If you're a national of a European country, I'm just wondering why your application is being processed in Buffalo. Anyhoo, don't stress the ethnic differences, Buffalo does not scrutinize that like other visa offices do. If you were the Canadian, for example, and you were sponsoring a Jamaican, then Kingston would probably be a little bit more critical about the genuineness of the relationship (that's how different VOs operate, and there's little we can do about it). Buffalo is not going to look at your relationship more critically just because you come from different backgrounds; I'm a naturalized American and my sponsoring husband is a native of Morocco (so different religions, different ethnic backgrounds). They just want to see sufficient evidence of your relationship like they would with any other application. Ideally, you would have included the letters of support with your application, but you can certainly send them now, since I understand that the reason you're looking to send more pictures is that you'll actually be in a position to take them, seeing as you will be together for the trip. Honestly, though, I think if you sent plenty of evidence initially, you don't really need to do anything else. Buffalo has a reputation for messing up other things - medicals, police reports, and CSQs, for example. By the way, if you are a U.S. citizen, you can "wait out" your processing in Canada (they will usually give you 6 months at the border, provided they don't have a reason to think you intend to set up house there permanently). That way, you can be with your wife until you get your PPR and formally land.

Hey so do you mean that if I am not an America my application will be delayed? I am holding hong kong passport and currently working and live in Canada with a work permit. My boyfriend and I are in common -law for almost 3 years and we haven been in relationship for 7 years. I think buffalo would be better for me if I case the VO request for interview. We are in Toronto so just 2 hours drive. I also asked my consultant she said buffalo is fine for me normally they will finish case in 6 to 9 months .

My application received by Mississauga on aug10 and sponsor by oct24. The VO also received my application on aug 10 and medical exam at the same time. I have been waited for 2 months too ecas still remain the same at application received is it really a problem?

Yeah, I think it would be much better if you were processed at Buffalo which is finalizing 80% within 10 months versus Hong Kong (80% within 19 months, which by the way, is totally crazy given that Beijing is 5 months). But it's not like you have the choice; yeah, there's a place on the application to put which VO you're sending it to but you can't embassy shop in the end- they send it where it belongs, jurisdictionally.

So you didn't mention who the "VO" is below but I'm assuming it is indeed Buffalo. I can't really tell you what may or may not cause your application to be delayed. For one, Buffalo is infamous for inconsistency and delays and there's a whole range of variables which may determine how fast they will process your application. Second, as most of the people going through Buffalo on the Buffalo thread are U.S. citizens, it's hard for me to say whether not being a citizen significantly makes a difference in the speed of the processing. There was recently someone who was filing common law who applied in June and had already received her PPR last month, so apparently it is possible to be common law and to get your visa even faster than others, but then again, this person was a U.S. citizen. I can tell you that it's rare for Buffalo to request interviews and that when they do, I have only heard of it when the principal applicant is not a U.S. citizen.

Your application could not have been received by the VO on August 10 and at Mississauga on August 10 too. CPC-M forwards the PR portion to the VO only after it approves the sponsorship portion, so it would have been sometime after October 24.

If the police check takes a long time -- then getting one done and being ready for their request is smart. If its not requested in instructions, then I wouldn't send in proactively. I know nothing about pros/cons of sending in additional info.

The e finger prints takes only 72 hours to get it transfer to Ottawa it's not long at all! Anyways I better get it done!! Thank you guys

Hong Kong. I didn't see anywhere there that it said HK certs were not needed. Moreover, the "how to obtain police certificates" page for HK says that they need to be provided: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/asia-pacific/hong-kong.asp.

But after 2008 I only lived in hk for 4 months so I still need to apply for police check?

Right, there's a different procedure for HK, and apparently also a different procedure if you live there or not at the time, but the point is that you do need to provide them. All VOs require police certificates (as well as Appendix C for the medical) to be originals and not copies, as far as I know, so no one really gets to "keep" them. Like I said, you need to get a police clearance from every country or territory you've lived in for 6 consecutive months or more - so if you've lived in Hong Kong for more than 6 months as an adult, you need it.

Well, like I said, you should probably wait for Buffalo to request those. What they do first is run a name check, and if that produces something, they might request actual fingerprints. If they do request those, I would imagine they would give you ample instructions on how to go about sending them in. If you really want to do it proactively, I think it's best to use one of the service providers listed here - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2009/ob116.asp- and to have them send the cert to Buffalo (with a copy to you of course).
