Higher protection sought for immigrant workers in Saskatchewan
Canada, 5th May: A new regulatory protection is underway for offering more protection to foreigners working in Saskatchewan.
Consultations before introduction of new law--As per the Ministry of Advanced Education, Employment and Immigration in Saskatchewan, a new legislation is being proposed for protecting the rights of foreign workers in the province. For this, the government initiated public consultations before introduction of a new law in Saskatchewan.
The consultations began on 11th April till the period of four weeks. Consultants, settlement advisors, employers, lawyers and immigrant workers in Saskatchewan will be consulted in cities like Regina, Yorkton, Swift Current and Saskatoon.
A final report will be provided to the ministry of Saskatchewan after seeing the results of consultations undertaken by Insightrix Research’s Adam Yuzik and Corrin Harper.
Consultations aims to know the views of people regarding employment issues in Saskatchewan-Rob Norris, the minister for Advanced Education, Employment and Immigration, said wide consultations with foreign workers, employers, citizens and others are being carried on to know the details of the issues and to develop appropriate solutions for protection of their rights in Saskatchewan. Views can be provided for these issues through completion of an online survey.
Saskatchewan aims to allure higher number of immigrants--Moreover, Saskatchewan intends to encourage and invite more and more immigrant workers to come, stay and work here, he asserted. The government of Saskatchewan aims to popularize the province to the foreigners as a best place for living, working and raising a family, he maintained. As of now, foreign workers are attracted to come and live in Saskatchewan by immigrating through SINP(Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program). The year 2010-11 attracted 4,195 immigrants to the province under this program.

New legislation to be introduced next session—The government of Saskatchewan plans to introduce the new legislation for providing increased protection for foreign workers in the province in next session after submission of the final report to the minister in the end of May this year.
