What should I do?

CaN U give me an advice.. My work permit will expire on January 7, 2011. Can I have a temporary work permit in Immigration while my passport was still under proccessing and will be pick up on January 19,2011. My contract with my employer will be finished on June 8.2011. What should I do???

You have to apply for a Work Permit extensions if yours is soon to be expired. Since you can't apply for an extension coz your passport is not with you yet; you will then apply for a WP restoration within 90 days.

In my case I got originally 3 years stated in my Employment Contract but CIC gave me only 2 year TRV and WP coz that's only the validity of my passport and they didn't put any remarks in my WP when I first arrived at Port of Entry that I got 3 yrs Contract. My 2year TRV and WP will expires in January 12, 2011 but I did applied a WP extension and still on process and that with a new contract(Hope will arrive soon) In short you can not work without a valid WP and you can not use your still valid contract to work.

May ask you again... When will be the best time for me to apply a work permit extension? and where will I go to apply for it? Can I apply it now? Reply again. Thanks!!!

Hi Shella, are you under Live-in Caregiver (LCP)? Then browse the following link on how to extend WP. You can apply at least 30 days before the expiry date. You can apply thru online or by mail/post. But how can you apply if you don't have your Passport details yet? Did you renew your passport? Hope they can expedite your passport renewal so you can apply/send your application on Extension of WP before it expires. Good luck to both of us.

I work as a LIVE IN Caregiver PROGRAM.
I can get my passport on January 19, 2010, and my work permit will expired on january 7, 2010, so that mean I cannot apply for work permit .?
Will I wait for my passport before I can apply WP?

What will happen to me after my wp expire yet I didnt have chance to apply it until I get my new passport?
I was so sad that this things happen to me, that I didnt notice it early, :'( :'(
and I have read also that I need to pay additional $200 for restoration of my work permit, plus $150 for work permit fee, its a big sum of money to pay.!!!

Hi Shella, I assumed that the dates you have mentioned was 2011 not 2010? Anyways, you can't apply since you don't have your passport details. Did you try downloading the form IMM1249 and the Document Checklist IMM5556? There's a portion in that form that you need to enter your passport details. Try reading also the form IMM5553 (Application Guide). If I were you try gathering all the necessary documents needed (you can see those from the document checklist) while waiting for your passport. (e.g. Employment Contract - use the 7-pages contract templates; a letter from your employer that they still need your service; if your planning to apply thru mail/post - need to request a copy of IMM5401 or the receipt from cic website for your payment)

I'm sorry, I really don't have any idea about sending application without your passport and leaving empty the Passport details entry in the form IMM1249 & maybe include a letter that your passport is still on-process Just try calling the CIC for you to know what's the best thing you have to do.
