My status shows DM but my address still shows my old address in California. (I emailed CIC twice and snail mailed them once but still showing the old address.)

Who do I need to contact? Can someone tell me what phone number to call?

Also, does anyone know if the COPR letter is already sent to my old address (which has mail forwarding set up to go to a mailbox at a UPS store in NY), will it get forwarded? (I know some letters USPS won't forward, but I am not sure about CIC letters.)

Thank you very much for your help!

Unfortunately I think it's just the main CIC Call Centre as shown here:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/contacts/call.asp

I got the email for Ottawa from this page:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/canada/ottawa.asp#permanent

I love how it says "If you do not tell CIC or the visa office of your change of address, important documents could be delayed or lost. This could cause your application to be refused." UH - I am trying to tell you, CIC, but apparently you are not getting it!

I am in the same boat as you. My husband and kids moved here at the end of March and I came along with them as a "visitor" and no longer have a perm address in the US.

It's pretty frustrating- I did the address change for my husband (my sponsor) TWICE online weeks ago and it didn't go through. Then, I had an exchange with them about a separate issue (my FBI report) which was resolved so in my last reply I inquired about updating my address and provided it then - but got no response. This week after seeing the DM on ECAS I emailed them AGAIN with the address change and I tried to call the Call Centre yesterday. After several recorded messages I was disconnected because "call volume was high"! Argh!

They ask for this specific information if you email them:
If you are the applicant you must provide us with your:
Surname (Last name) - Exactly as it appears on passport or identity document;
Given name(s) (First name) - Exactly as it appears on passport or identity document;
Date of birth (YYYY-MM-DD);
Unique Client Identifier (UCI) number / Client ID number; and
Application number (V#, F#, EP#, E#, B#).

I had forgotten to include my DOB so I sent another email. Just checked again now and see no change.

I still have a relationship with my old landlord in NYC so I emailed her to let her know to be on the lookout just in case anything shows up.

Hopefully whatever they send will get to me eventually!

Thank you very much for your reply. It looks like I've done it correctly as for the emails I sent to them, and the snail mail. I tried to call the call center number, but evidently, you cannot from a US number (I brought a Vonage device from the US, but I am calling from a US number so that must be why.) and my US cell charges $1/minute so I'd rather not use that. I will have to wait for my husband to come home to call using his cell phone.

I think I will notify my landlord in California also... Do you know if they forward COPR letters? If they do that, I will eventually get the letter in my mailbox at the UPS store in NY (I have a leased apartment in the same city, but I am not there all the time and the mailbox there has no lock so hence a mailbox at the UPS store.)

Not sure about the forward. I submitted a paper request form (you couldn't do it online) to the USPS before we left in March and so far I haven't seen much forwarded, although we didn't usually get a lot of mail anyway.

This is what it says on the USPS site:

A permanent Change of Address (COA) order provides for “piece-by-piece” forwarding of primarily First-Class Mail® for 12 months and Periodicals for 60 days, but generally does not provide the forwarding of Standard Mail® or Package Services Mail. The customer's new address is provided to business mailers upon request through mailer endorsements on a mailpiece.

From here: http://faq.usps.com/?articleId=221220

I'm not sure if mail from the CIC/Canada Post counts as First-Class. You would think it should, but it doesn't look good...

Thank you, monstergirly. USPS has a special weekly mail delivery service with Priority Mail (for a fee, of course), so maybe I will talk to them and see if it's worth changing to that of if I can mid-stream like this.

monstergirly,

I just succeeded in talking to an agent at CIC (They said the wait time was 14 minutes but ended up waiting only for about 8 minutes!). He said the procedures have changed recently and now we are supposed to change the address ourselves online or request the change using a web form... He sent me an email with options (I pasted the email below. The email was with hyperlinks so I added the links manually.) I chose Option 3. I am not sure if that is right or not... Let me know what you think?

=============

How to submit a change of address/Email address request

In order to change your residential/mailing address and/or email address, please visit our website.

There are three options online:

The Change of Address service:

for certain applicants inside Canada who wish to change their address to another address inside Canada.
https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/?app=coa&lang=en

The Address Notification service:

for applicants who were previously located outside Canada, have recently immigrated and need to provide their new address inside Canada in order to receive their Permanent Resident Card.
https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/?app=coanotify&lang=en

The email form:

if you can't change your address online.
https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx

Please allow at least 5 business days for the address to be updated in your file.

If additional actions are required in your file (i.e., the processing times for your application have passed, you did not receive a correspondence that was sent to you, you wish to transfer your file to an office closer to your new home, etc.), you must fill out a separate email form and provide details pertaining to your request in the comment box.

For more information on changing an address online, please visit our Help Centre.

Wait! So although the application status still showed the old address, you got your COPR at the correct address?
