i dont seem to hear from people that applied from naija does it mean that they are not processing ours? i applied since oct 2006 and the only thing they have done was to send me the 120 days letter of discontinuing. i ignored the letter and the 120 days has elapsed so i expect them to ask for my documents. would engaging the services of a lawyer make it faster for me? if yes who do you people recommend?

Dear canadaforsure
as you did not reply the letter within 120 days of receipt they rejected your application. You will get the refund and the papers you send. Any further notification from CIC ?

Best of luck.

my personal assumption is that as you said you applied in 2006, the 120 letter you received from CHC was to check with you if you are still interested in immigrating to Canada or not, just like majority of pre Nov-2008 applicants received. am i right? if this is the case, then you are okay. i can't say when you will receive the request for further documents but hang on there, you'll receive it someday. i dont think engaging the services of a lawyer at a stage when you are already in process and waiting for CHC to request you for further documents will be a good decision. but at the end of the day, this is your own choice as this is your application and you are the only one who knows if you have any such complications in your background for which you need help of a lawyer.

hope this helps.

Engaging a lawyer will not speed up your application in anyway, you have come this far without one, and you don't really need one at this stage. If you are really keen on moving to canada, then you might want to consider filing in another application under the new c-50 rules, provided you're experienced in one of the list of preferred 38 occupations, and funding isn't an issue for you. Chances are the new c-50 application will be a quicker route than the old one. I know a few who got to medicals stage between January and April 2009, in just under 4months, under the new rules.

There are lots of naija on this one, so you're not alone. No shaking.

Canadaforsure.

1. I applied from naija
2. The implications of applying through uk without being a resident, honestly I do not know. But what I heard (pre new law) was that it is a lot faster.
3. What I have from Ghana now is just a change in Bxxxxxxx file number after submitting full application. Im yet to receive med. request. My former Bxxxxxx from sydney reads "Centralizes Intake Office Sydney (CIO-S) Eligibility Review Complete" while my new Bxxxxxxx from Ghana reads "In Process"
Hope this helps.
Cheers

Dear canadaforsure

There is an option that you can withdraw previous one (applied before 27 Feb 2008) and apply again if your job is included under 38 NOC list to make the processing faster. In that case you will not get the refund if previous one is started processing.

I think there would not be any problem to process both ones. You can go with that one which is faster. Certainly later one will be faster. In that case you have to pay fees again and you will get no refund.

What is the e-cas status of your application now ?

Good luck.
