new2canada,
if somebody is very active on an immigration forum, it is safe to assume that they are highly interested in immigrating to the country of their choice, right?

Why not your own country, Singapore, Malaysia, etc? One can have a great lifestyle in any of these countries provided there is no war. I don't know what country your come from but seems like you really want to stay in North America. I wish you best of luck.
I dont know what u are trying to say but let me not start another verbal war with you. So, you think what u think and I think what i think...everyone has their own arguments. History shows that politics and religion are two debates which can NEVER end. So, peace...

Yes and no. It depends on whether they are 'desperate' or not too. It could be someone is active on a Canadian forum because they don't want to go back to their own country (say like Iraq or Afghanistan) and they don't have a choice to stay in the US or they could be active on a forum because they really want to go to Canada.

I think you misunderstood me completely. I am not sure what politics and religion has anything to do with what I said and i didnot mean to hurt your feelings either. I was merely saying that there are good choices outside North America where one can lead a great life. If USA or Canada doesn't work out, then you should look at those countries too (if you want). peace.

"another verbal war" - have we had an argument before? lol

new2canada,

i do not see much difference in the 2 categories. only political instability does not define "desperation". a person can be "motivated" to achieve his dreams, which might seem "desperation" to somebody else.
as mike said above, he has his reasons to stay in NA. who am i or you to question that?

oh no, i did not mean like that.

In my talk, by desperation, i mean the life and death situation. Sure if he wants to stay in NA, he should be allowed to apply. I was merely trying to say that while NA is nice, there are other nice countries one can consider if they do not get into NA. By the way, my initial statement had nothing alluding to desperation in any form or meaning. I used the word desperation to reply to you because i was trying to distinguish between people who are really interested and people who are on this forum as a second choice and those people who practically have no choice due to wars, etc. Perhaps you could tell me what I said wrong in my first message that pissed him off because I still don't understand what I said wrong.

I will stop now. I did not mean to insult his sensibilities.

Let me take this question from my perspective. Explanation offers my stance to relocate to Canada, circumstances might defer for other individuals. I have option to go back to my home country, India. I am born and brought up in India. However, if we move to India, my school-going kids will have to learn regional language as part of their school curriculum. International schools in India don't have regional languages but they charge astronomically high fees. I would bearly cut their fees and have good life with my Indian salary. Secondly, after so many years in US, my kids never developed a killer instinct to compete with Indian kids; this might be a myth. After doing enough research on other prospects like NZ, Oz, Singapore and India, I have arrived at conclusion that Canada scores collectively better than other prospects in terms of studies, work, earnings, savings and lifestyle.
Peace.
