They should automatically withdraw it. However, I did have a running PR renewal application when I gained my citizenship and I did get a letter to pick up my new PR card after I took the oath. I phoned the call centre and told them and they said my PR renewal was already cancelled and the letter was sent out by mistake.

I doubt they'll refund the fee if it's already being processed.

If you get Canadian nationality, PR is NOT required. You can have either of them & NOT both at the same time.

You can send copies of Citizenship certificate, PR inform the concerned department that you got Canadian Citizenship & dont require the PR card anymore.

However, NOT sure, if you would get the refund.

I did get a refund. It took CIC a few months to return the money.

Hi Atip,

Did you get the full govt. fees (CAD 100) back? I got my citizenship within few weeks of my PR renewal application so just wanted to check with you if they return the full fees or return a part of it.
