People who have already passed this barrier (few days back along with few years back) have told me that only the visa (passport), the letter of approval for study permit and the letter of acceptance is needed.

rhasan's right. The immigration officers are well aware of the fact that the students' application for study permit has undergone verification by their local VOs and have taken necessary time to confirm that the applicants meet the requirements. So it wouldn't make sense if all those documents were to be presented again at the port. Instead, the IOs double check the offer letter for the study permit to be issued, along with the visa and the letter of approval for study permit (as this letter contains your permit number).

I sent the original hard-copy of my letter of acceptance with my application to the embassy. However, when i got back my visa i didn't get back the copy. I emailed the university about it and told them to send me one more since i would be needing that at the port of entry. But they replied that since i already submitted an original one so a simple photocopy or print out would work ..
Anybody, comments ??!!

Believe it or not I sent Canadian Embassy a photocopied version of Letter of Acceptance and they issued me a study permit so I have the original ::)

The point i was trying to say was airport guys will accept even the scanned LOA.

Hi Ahmed,

Ask your college if they can email you a PDF of the letter of acceptance, which is what my college did.

Cheers!

if its them to send the pdf then the scan copy will do just fine right?

I'm sure of it. Not have I only heard it from people who have already undergone that phase but I've also seen it online, including this forum. What mainak stated is for those who are not required a TRV to travel to Canada. In that case the immigration officers ensure that the applicant meets the requirements for admission to Canada. But you can always carry your pile of documents if your'e doubtful. No harm in being extra cautious :)

Hey Habil i dont have the original acceptance letter but i do have the scanned on will that work? as CHC did not return back by original copy.

Just refer to this post:
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/pls-share-your-experience-with-the-immigration-officer-at-the-port-of-entry-t79401.0.html;msg927095#msg927095

It is written by amtoo55 who landed in toronto about a week back and said that only LOA/Passport/Study permit approval letter is required.

Happy?

And for the sake of my parents who lovingly kept my name, at least get my name correct before getting into any sort of argument!

In my letter of acceptance the school asks that the original signed copy be returned to them in my registration package so all I have is the copy. I asked the school if it would cause a problem at POE and they said they have never had any problems before with their students entering Canada with the copy so relax guys.
