What could this mean?

So my husband and I are a little dumbfounded...

I received an email from Vegreville (we're applying from within Canada) last Tuesday (Oct 22) to say I'd been approved for my OWP and that I'd be getting something separately from them shortly. So I was pleased with this, because it gives me more work-freedom and it means they're finally catching up after the strikes which I anticipated would be much worse.

Today I got another email which said this, in a nutshell:

This letter refers to your application for permanent residence under the spouse or common-law
partner in Canada class.

We are pleased to advise you that processing of your application has been completed. The
Canada Immigration Centre in Scarborough will contact you concerning your permanent
resident status.

Please note: At the time of your appointment, you and your family members, if any, will
be required to present the original identification document(s) to the Canada Immigration
Centre. A final decision concerning the granting of permanent residence status will be
made at that time. If permanent residence is granted, the name that will appear on the
confirmation of permanent resident document is your name as it appears on your
passport or identity documents.


Does this mean what I think it means?? I was expecting to wait a whole lot longer for this process to be over. :

You will receive a letter from the local office and you will be announced the date of your landing interview.

I realise that post might be idiotic but I'm just such a skeptic now for several reasons and I cannot believe that I got that email? It feels like they must have messed up somehow.

So, when do you think they will contact me? Will it be sooner or later? I'm in shock

When they contact you...... it depends on where you live.

I know what you mean. The wait went on so long, it just seemed like it would never end. It's rather surreal to realize the waiting is over, isn't it? I got the DM email about an hour after I got my AIP email. I had to read it twice before I could believe what I was seeing, and then I burst into tears.

As Tomorisu said, the offices all seem to vary in their timelines for contact after DM. There's a spreadsheet in the inland 2012 thread; you could look through that to find timelines of people who landed at Scarborough.

Again, I know I sound like a total n00b but this is all happening differently to how I expected so I'm a bit like...whaaaat. Was expecting plenty more time to get familiar with the latter stages of my process here!

I looked at the inland 2012 spreadsheet. Scarborough has ranged from landing 10 days after DM to landing 83 days after DM. However, right around a month seems to be the usual timeline.

I think they might be speeding me up while my medical is still good...in about 2-3 weeks it's been about a year since I did it, hope they don't make me redo it but hey worse stuff has happened and my timeline has shortened dramatically

Question: What happens at a landing interview?

It's rather anticlimactic after the long wait, and all the uncertainty and stress. It took us all of five minute. The officer looked over my passport (and two Québec-specific forms that you won't have) and asked me three questions (not sure I remember them?), something like: have you been convicted of any crimes, have you ever been asked to leave Canada, do you have any children in or out of Canada? (Not entirely sure those were the questions, but it's simple stuff like that.) Then he turned to my husband and said, "Now for the million dollar question. Do you still want to sponsor your wife?" (He said yes. ) Then the officer had me sign the COPR and went over some information with me (when to expect my PR card, about needing the PR card to travel, residency requirements for PRs - all stuff I knew quite well from this forum, haha). Then he congratulated me.
