Iam thinking on how best to respond to this question just incase it's asked during the interview("hopefully"). I would probably say that Canada needs labour and this is where I come in.

How would you respond to this question?

Difficult question;

However if asked by an immigration officer, I would probably say that I can do things for Canada which I could not do for my own country. See, ultimately I have to impress him/her so say something good.

It would be nice to see how other members respond to this thread ;)

It is a difficult question and its hard to say you have to impress, just you hv to say the truth in your own words.

if i would be asked i will say:

I would like to add my countribution to to the social and financial ecomony of the country with my efforts to give quality of life/education/health and general serviecs to me n my family.

what they r looking for is how much you can countribute to them. just shouldn't be a burden on the econamy of the county.

any other voice?

Well said Pankaj.

I should have write the same :)
They don't need burdens on their heads instead they need people who can contribute to their economy & social system.

for me as a licenced physiotherapist back home, i would definitely say that i will share my expertise for canadians and help them out to recover from their injuries and help them cope up with their disabilities and live like a normal if not almost normal human being, i can make them productive despite of their disabilities and injuries. :D

i will say that as a professional ca, i can contribute to society and economy in a positive manner.

I will help Canada to increase their population, (Just a joke). Simply I will spell out my academic achievement as well as my career. My personal qualities together with that of my spouse especially my age which position me as a perfect match candidate with what the country needs.

Pankajk - i agree with you. If asked this question, i would first think that i am not a nobel prize scientist. There is nothing that i am going to do that others somewhere can't do but I can be an honest person and contribute my share of taxes to the economy. However, ultimately, it is not about what I can do for Canada but what Canada will do for me through security, financial stability, etc.

You can say that
i am giving my time, my talent and i would like to be recognized as a Canadian citizen. Growth rate is also important as if Growth rate is about to zero then economy of that country can be collapsed.this is the major reason that Canada needs immigrants.

I think that the officer will know what you are going to do for Canada based on the information provided in your file, I mean he already knows what your job/ field of specialization, career, and he will know how and in what way you are going to contribute to Canada based on your job title, at least he will have an idea.

thats right! thats why they're so strict in screening applications and the 38 list of occupations says it all... :D
