Hello everybody,

This Monday I wil be visiting my boyfriend (sponsor) in Montreal for 2 months. My boyfriends sponsorship is approved (recieved the mail last week), and the CIC send our application to the visa office in Vienna.

Now I was wondering....
Can they see somehow at the airport that I'm in an immigrationprocess?
And can I expect to be send to immigration for questioning?

I'm bringing a document that proofs that I'm still enlisted in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands so that I can proof that I'm only visiting and not planning to stay permanently.

I entered at Montreal in July, after returning from a trip to Europe during which my previous student visa expired. It was not a problem at all: at the border control they asked about the expired visa and I told them that I had an ongoing PR application (my sponsor hadn't been approved at that point). I was sent to the CIC office where, after waiting for a long time, I told the same thing to the officer and she gave me a visitor stamp without asking questions. So you should be good. Maybe bring a copy of the sponsor approval, just in case. Have a good trip to Montreal!

Okay, I'll bring the letter of the approved sponsorship also. But I don't have a visa or something, don't need it. I'm just traveling with my passport. But I don't think they can even know at the airport that I'm immigrating right?

I'm also bringing a lot of things already. I have my clothes packed in vacuumbags in my suitcase so that I had some space left for stuffed animals and things like that. Things that I definitely don't want to sell or get rid of when I move perminantly.
I don't think this will be a problem right?
I mean the fact that I packed lots of clothes and stuffed animals in vacuumbags?
It saves a lot of space.

Hey Remrov,

you should be fine. Bring the copy of the sponsor letter, but also let them know that you are visiting for 2 months only, as you have a return ticket ( I suppose). For the packing - I don't think it will be a problem, if it doesn't look like too much like you are moving completely - and it fits into normal bags. Especially that you have a return ticket, they will see at the border that you are only visiting, so no worries.

Enjoy your visit ( and congrats on being approved already, that was fast! and Vienna is a very fast VO as well, so you'll have your COPR in no time!).

Cheers,
Sweden

Thanks Sweden!!!

I wont worry anymore then. I do have indeed a return ticket. I have E-tickets and I've printed them out already, and I'm taking them both also.

It doesn't look like I"m moving. I have one big suitcase with clothes and stuffed animals. And one carry-on bag with a book and other things I will be needing over there.

Good to hear that Vienna is really fast. Happy about that.

Cheers!!

Cough cough, Vienna hasn't issued any PR visa since April. They may have been fast in the past but at the moment they're anything but. Feel free to join us in the Vienna thread.
