Hi all,

Anyone knows what can be considered prove of resettling to Canada. I planned to sponsor my spouse from overseas, meaning me staying overseas during the process. I guess no one would give me a job or a serious job offer since it takes up to 15 months to complete the process. Therefore, my dilemma is what is considered a real "prove of intend to resettle."

I guess writing a letter saying that I'll figure that out when the visa date is close, it is not considered a good plan... :p

Thanks you all for yur attention!

Tony

Have family members write letters that they are aware of your plans to move back to Canada. Also start contacting realtors and do job searches and mention the sites you are using in a letter to CIC. Show that you have a plan.

Hello!

I'm in the same situation - living overseas with my husband while sponsoring him.

Here are some things you can include:

- A letter from a family member saying they're expecting you, and you'll be staying with them.
- Proof of communication where you're talking about your plans to move back to Canada. Emails, chats, etc.
- A letter discussing your plans to resettle (where you'll live, what you and your spouse will do for work/income, etc)
- Screenshots of google searches for jobs or apartments.

I included all of those (except the last one) and in my letter I also talked about WHY we wanted to move to Canada. Don't worry about it too much! I'm sure there are a lot of couples applying while living overseas, and are therefore unable to include job offers or rented apartments. Especially when you're unsure about the exact timeline, or you know it's going to take 1-2 years!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I would assume that if they want more proof of your intent to resettle, they'll ask you when they're getting closer to making a decision on your husband's application. At that point I suppose you could seriously start trying to sort out apartments/jobs.

Good luck :)

I wrote a 1.5 page letter outlining my plan to reestablish in Canada after the wife received her Confirmation of Permanent Residence (CoPR). I also had my parents, sister, two cousins who met the wife, a next door neighbor I babysat for when in high school and a coworker of mine in Japan write letters confirming our intent of moving back to Canada. I also included an email exchange between my travel agent regarding flights back to Canada.

Oops, sorry! *your wife's application :)

Also - I saw in another thread that you're living in Venezuela? That should help you.. in the letter you can mention that the situation there is unstable and you're concerned for your safety. That is very good proof of intent to resettle.

Thank you guys. Just a question, after writing the letter, proving funds, get the references, and print of "Job searches." I guess no one was turned back right? This is the standard procedure?

Thanks again!

Yeah, I want to get my kids and wife out of this place...I came back to take care of the Family business and there are "negative forces" out of my control around here...

Exactly, an unstable living situation gives very good reason to want to resettle in Canada. Plus, you've got children, so they shouldn't have reason to doubt the genuineness of the marriage, or your intent to follow your family. You should be in a good position for a speedy/easy application process :)
