WES Procedures - University of Mumbai

This WES procedure gets as complicated as it seems simple in the start.

1) I have got the B.com & BMS transcript in a sealed and stamped envelope for me and my wife from respective college, also got the marksheet attested from principal of the respective college but did not get it in a sealed envelope. Is it fine? Will it be accepted at Churchgate?

2) I have done Mcom (Mumbai University) correspondence and got the transcript from Kalina university. Will Mumbai University attest the marksheet for it to be submitted to WES and will Mcom add points to my EE tally? Else, I would skip it.

3) My wife did 2 year full time PG in finance from Thakur college and it is an AICTE approved course (parallel to MMS run by Mumbai University). I have got the transcript from college but who would verify the degree for it to be send to WES? And the Degree Equivalency Tool on WES site does not give any details

Help on this would be appreciated. Thanks in Advance!!!

1. Yup, will be. They need B&W xeroxes, which they will verify against original. The whole 'sealed unsealed' problem is a WES thing. (Also, insecure Indian men)

2. Yes, MU will attest marksheet and yup get it assessed. You can claim points for two or more degrees.

3. Don't know the answer to this one.

I would really appreciate if you can confirm the below in my specific case with regards to documentation for WES evaluation:
Case: B.Sc.IT - year of graduation 2004. 1-4 semesters held by institute and 5-6 semesters held by University.

Step 1: Get all 3 years transcripts from the institute. Also get this attested by the principal.Questions: (a) Should the institute only attest first 4 semesters? (b) Does this need to be sealed in an envelope and stamped by the institute

Step 2: Print B&W copies of the degree certificate and mark-sheets. Arrange for 2-3 A4 size envelopes

Step 3: Take the institute attested transcript and all printed marksheets and degree certificate copies to churchgate university in a SINGLE envelop.

Step 4: Request for WES attestation for all documents (question: even the transcript already attested by institute?). Pay them what they provide services for.

Step 5: Collect when ready. Ensure that it is sealed and stamped in an evelope

Step 6: Make sure it reaches untampered to WES in Canda.

Did I get this right? Also, please answer the questions asked above.

I had the same issue (they are in US). My institute was ok with an already attested photocopy to verify the new attestation but MU (churchgate) needs originals. I am going to try to attempt one more time if they agree (or at least an affidavit) or I may need to send it.

Step 3: if you missed the advice mentioned above (the advice mentioned in step 2), then you would have to open one of the transcript and take Xerox of it. Now head to Churchgate University office (building beside Sydenham College) and head to the 1st floor. Ask anyone where they would attest documents. They will also ask you to get a green envelope (the one which has threads) and they will return the documents with the same envelope (stamped same like college i.e front, back and middle flips will be stamped and signed). They won't seal it so just ensure when you put those documents inside and seal it, then ensure that the seal is in place and looks untampered.

- I had some doubts about this step. The final green envelope which will contain my two smaller envelopes is understood. I didn't understand the part where I have to provide University of Mumbai with an envelope. Will they not provide a university letterhead envelope? and if they simply stamp it but not seal it, doesn't that defeat the purpose and is grounds for rejection by WES? my understanding was the seal on the envelope is on the flap, hence ensuring that it is untampered.

No. They wont provide an envelope. You have to give it to them and they'll stamp it.

Yes, it defeats the purpose but the University guys dont care. So when you stick it, ensure you stick it properly.

For her b. Com degree from MU

1) I collected 1&2 year marksheets attested and transcripts from college in a sealed envelope
2) i further got 3rd year (university yr) marksheets and degree certificate attested plus college transcript of 3rd yr issued by college and attested by MU in sealed envelope

Moreover i provided them a letter of explanation regarding name change post marriage.

Her docs got accepted within a week of their receipt. Thanks to @Zagoclins and Mr Makarand for your proper guidance

a transcript will have details of the course, subjects and marks for all years in a single document, unless you specifically ask them not to provide details of all years. A transcript is NOT compulsory for WES unless you have completed that degree more than a decade ago - MU will not attest your docs without the transcript in that case.

Read carefully: You need a transcript only if you have completed your degree(s) in 2008 or earlier.

qualified? You mean attained your degree in 2007? Then, yes. Don't bother going to MU to attest in that case, they'll send you back.

If you mean that you started your degree in 2007 and say finished it in 2009, then no. It's the final exam/passing certificate year that matters.
