What category did you apply under? Where is your PA from? When did you apply? If you provide any useful information at all, people may be able to offer feedback.

The processing time on the IRCC site has gone down over the past year and has not gone up. It now sits at 16 months, and our application being handled at Warsaw was processed in about that much time.

Outland family / spousal application for my wife and child, from russia applied in Oct aor Dec 5 all bios and medical completed and passed and updated on tracker. Sitting on background since.
We also applied for trv in March. The processing time for trv just went UP yesterday on the ircc site, now it sits at 318 days as opposed to the Day before at 290 days...it has increased a few times over the last few weeks.

We applied for family sponsorship for my spouse who is also from Russia. We applied in Nov 2021 and only got our passport request in April 2023, so you may have a while to go.

Background checks are always the longest part of the process. It has only around 6 months so not close to the 1 year mark yet so well within processing times. TRVs are hit or miss for families of Canadian citizens or PRs because most families aren’t planning on actually visiting. Used to be almost no chance while now 50/50. The fact that they are from Russia only complicates their application. Posted processing times are just estimates and the long TRV processing estimates are due to the use of processing data from Covid so are much longer than actual average processing.

It's not likely the MP can help much for the background verification part. For understandable reasons, security coop from Russian authorities not high at this point in time. The 2nd medical is a positive though wont' tell you much about timing.

What was your spouse's eligibility issue (which you won on review)?

Not true. My Russian wife was approved in 3 months from Warsaw this year. It is always about the quality of the supporting documents you submitted. We had at least a few red flags in our application but the process was smooth

I don't know what you're saying 'not true' to. If it's regarding security background checks, I don't think there is much about what one can provide that will speed things.

I’m saying not true that Russia is delaying background checks. Canada doesn’t have an information sharing agreement with them. It’s 50% on Canada and 50% on the applicant for not submitting quality information
