Waiting on student VISA, is it possible to chase for an update?

1. Are you saying you applied online with your spouse?
2. Regarding Q1 I mean student study permit and an open work permit for your spouse?
3. Do you leave in UK as well?

Also I check my GIC account and the '?' still states what you quoted earlier.........what does that mean for me? Cause my wife and I both applied under one application and (study permit for her and an open work permit for me). We applied on the 20th of October and still nothing except the confirmation we got from them after making payment.

And regarding '?' thing I think it is not updated on the portal but rules hqve surely changed because I just noticed 'India' is not mentioned in the list. You'll definitely hear within next two weeks . If you have a visa application center (VAC) nearby then you should surely visit it to clarify your doubts. They are very helpful. Good luck.

what was the email content.

VAC. It is a pdf file which states that we have made a decision on your application. Kindly submit your passport. Passport shoupd have at least one blank page, should be valid till the duration of study.

well i guess im screwed then. I applied on the 28th of August, 13 and a half weeks later i hear that the applications shouldn't even be submitted online together, hopefully they will still process ours. When we first looked into it, it said to submit both together online. Everything said apply together online.

what the hell am i supposed to do now? and on top of everything else, no number to call!!!!

The rules have been updated applying online from TRV exempt countries such as UK Were piloted by CIC with the online application system. Since the pilot ran smoothly they have opened all applications from countries which require a trv and more than one application. I emailed CIC a few weeks ago and they said they have been received and to refer to processing times. Dont worry everyone they would not have let us apply online. The rules have been updated since then.

Ok, so as the rules have been changed, how about applying with a family member and outside those countries indicated? Has the rules changed in regards to applying with a family member too? Do you guys also have this in your "MyCIC", the application number of only the main applicant being shown. Please let me know how many APP# shows in your MyCIC account. Those of you who applied with a spouse. Thank you. We are like a family now.

I believe the online application is open to most countries as people from India/Pakistan apply online too. Yes I did receive 2 application numbers one beginning with S which I presume is ny Study permit application number and one beginning with W for my husbands OWP application.

Our visa was refused today. The reasons stated does not match the application I submitted. They said
1. You have not satisfied me that you would leave Canada at the end of your stay. In reaching this
decision, I considered several factors, including:

2. have sufficient and available financial resources, without working in Canada, to maintain yourself and
any family members who are accompanying you during your proposed period of study
3. your family ties in Canada and in your country of residence

4.your current employment situation
your personal assets and financial status.

It seems like, they did not even look at the documents I provided or even read my SOP.
The total tuition fee of my wife is $18,000 for the whole course,
We had a physical cash of $70,0000, and had a receipt of the first term tuition we have already paid.
We have a permanent job in China right now, and have been working with the same company for 6 years now and has a letter from the company. MY wife is going to study a course in relation to her work and previous education. The same field.( Education, she is teaching now, and going to study Early learning and Child Care. Her previous diploma was in Education)
We have started a school back home and will officially open soon. And we are going to manage that school. All documents attached.
We have traveled to many countries, all these attached.

We submitted online application on 17th November and got refusal letter today. We are not Chinese, and the refusal letter was from Beijing, with no officers name, but just signed Officer

I am thinking of addressing all these issues and applying with a paper application at the VAC. I am not sure they took the time to go through our attached documents

Check our case and see if we are at fault. please.

I cant believe they rejected your visa. You have shown your available funding and paid tuition fees so thats really confusing. Your case definitely seems like you have provided all of the correct documents. Do you have any relatives in Canada? If I were you I would definitely reapply or appeal. Dont give up, definitely address those reasons and reapply.

Please share you profile, did you apply with your spouse like the rest of us as well or just study permit and were you applications online. Are you a British citizen?

From my experience, I think the online application works and faster regardless of where you are from, but I don't think it really favors you that much if you are applying from a country you are not originally from.
IN our case, I don't think the VO even looked at our documents. He did not even sign his name on the letter, it was just a letter that was randomly ticked. The funny thing is, I am on the same work visa with my wife in China, and one of my refusal reasons was, my immigration status, but that was not a reason for her. Anything that was a reason for my refusal was not stated on her refusal letter.

It looks as if when you are a foreigner applying for a visa in China, you have to prove beyond all reasonable doubts and to really have luck and God on your side to get the visa. We had the same situation, when my wife applied for a UK visit visa, she was refused on baseless reasons, when she appealed and the decision was taken in UK, and a case was filed against the officer who refused her in China, she was given the visa. The only problem is time and money in situations like this.

If you have submitted online application, I am very positive you will get a response and a positive one, just keep Praying.
How much do you guys think an immigration lawyer will cost when hired for a study permit application like ours?
