Waiting on student VISA, is it possible to chase for an update?

I emailed the CIC yesterday and i got the same reply as you saying

"Dear XXXXXX

Thank you for your e-mail, in response to your enquiry your applications are currently in process and awaiting officer review.

Kind regards, "

Only God knows when we would get the long awaited reply, we can only hope and pray for the best.........I will keep you updated and canadastudentvisa do keep us updated with the reply next week.

Applied on line but my visa office is London. Got the visa in 3 weeks, exactly. It has Vegreville written on it so never went through London, I guess.

Port of entry was no problem. I went through Toronto. Me. luggage and my cats plus a list of stuff I was shipping. After the permit was issued I got the luggage and the cats and went off to customs. They asked me if I was planning to set up residency in Canada in the future. I truthfully said that had they asked me six months earlier if I was going to go and study in Canada I would have said no and that I can't tell what I'll do three years from now. Fair enough, stamped my customs papers and sent me off on my merry way.

This was summer 2013.

I got my visa approved on 31 December but did not receive an email from them. I emailed them on December 2 2014 and they said both our visas were approved on 31 December. I arrived in Toronto yesterday as we had to go the embassy on Wednesday first to get my husbands TRV.
