Hi Tom32,

No CIC don't send any email notification. only way is to call them and check if the PR cards are dispatched.

Yes the PR card is sent separately. Sometime you receive it on the same day or sometimes different days.

My sister landed on June 17th and had to leave to native country (left canada july 29th). Did not got the PR card till then. She gave my present address then and did not received the PR card yet. Its been 7 months now. I applied, as a brother, "Use of representative form" (on 10th of Jan) on her behalf to enquire about the PR card status from Canada. She wants to travel back to canada but she doesnt has the card. Do you guys know how much time will it take to become the representative after sending the form?

I don't know the exact answer to your question, but I think your sister can call cic call centre and ask what happened to her card. (probably the quickest way to find out what has happened)
Plus, she needs to apply for Travel document ASAP if she wants to come back soon.

Hi ujbaby, how often does Canada Post misses mail? this is so scary. It cant be so easy to come up with an answer saying lost on the mail.

I have been in shock waiting for the pr cards and also couldnt do much since it is regular mail. Nobody hAve the answer. My best bet is to wait for six weeks and then call back cic. Its quite strange cos i lost two very important regular mails that period, one from the states and the pr cards :'(

We landed on the same day too The call center agent told they were mailed on Jan 21st. Just wondering how long does it take the regular mail to come from Ottawa to Calgary.

PR cards are mailed from Sydney, Nova Scotia ! You should receive them in 5 business days.

Just got our PR cards today

Hi, me & my wife received our pr cards on 9/1, landed on 1/11/13 , but we have not received our son's(8 months old) card , we called cic on 16/1, using16139444000 number, ther agent informed us my son's card had not yet begun processing ! The agent's knew we were calling from outside Canada & asked us if our son was with us ? They did not tell us when the card would be processed , but asked to call in a week or so.

Can anyone share some info on the above delay.

So ecas now has two sections - one for my CEC application and one for the PR card. The one for the PR card shows complete with the following detail: -

Permanent Resident Card
We received your application for a permanent resident card on December 3, 2013.

We started processing your application on January 24, 2014.

Your request for a permanent resident card was approved on January 28, 2014. Your Permanent resident card will be mailed to you or if quality assurance is required, made available for you to pick up at a CIC office.

According to the CIC website, the processing time is 58 days - they must have mailed the card already. I landed on 19th Dec - I hope to see an update in ecas and receive my card soon
