Waiting for PR Card after landing - add your case here

I just spoke to a nice CIC agent who advised that I will not get my PR card before travelling back to the UK on December 15th as it hasn't been dispatched yet. He didn't advise anything about new photos.

He's sending me details on how to get a travel document via the embassy in London

That news update on CIC says that the chip readers will start from 2016. I assume they might start issuing cards at any point from now though. They did use the phrasing "The permanent resident card (PR card) has been updated" (dated Nov 25th).

It means it would not be possible to receive card through your family members if you have left out in case of emergency without receiving it.

I agree, it just states that borders won't have the facility to read the chip until January 2016, doesn't mean they won't start issuing the cards.

Britishinvanvouver, did they say if you get the travel document on the day when you go into London or do you have to wait for it to be sent out. Looks like I will be in the same situation as you, heading to England on the 17th and still no card.

I just talked to cic agent and got informed that my pr card has been sent out for production and production can take up to 30 days.

Previously they said, I would get it by December 12, if not then, to give them a call. Sick and tired of waiting and confirmed my ticket to back home on December 11th.

30 days for production, LOL. They're obviously just issuing ultra safe guesses now.

Ok, really strange. I landed August 8. I've called the CIC three times (the first was Oct 30, which was plenty of time after the number of days supposedly it was taking them to issue PR). Today, on my third call, I was informed I was 'randomly selected for an interview' and have to show up on Dec 16, along with two photos. Apparently the letter was mailed to me yesterday so I'm not exactly sure of the details.

Has this happened to anyone else???

Also, I'm from the USA (visa exempt country) and just recently traveled back to the States over Thanksgiving and didn't have any issues without a PR card.

He didn't give me any details, he said he would email me imminently with the form and the visa office, yet still haven't received anything.
By the looks of the form and the process from looking online it seems to not be an instantaneous thing, think you have to mail it out including photos etc. and then they mail something back. If I don't receive anything by the morning I'll give them another shout and ask for more detailed info.

Can anyone please confirm this , if we get new PR card with chip we wont be able to get it through family member via courier to our home country

I guess the cic agent I talked on Nov 30 sent me different photo specifications that is 50×70mm which is for canidian passport which they received on Dec 2 as as landed on sep 16 2015 which is delayed due to photo retake.and I will get new card due to retake .

I am the PA, landed with my wife on 1ST october

My wife got her PR card on 17th November, i still did not get it...

CIC agent told me its still under process...

I landed on 5th October ,Called up CIC . They said my file is sent over ,but they haven't processed it still .
They dont know if the photographs are okay etc.
