I'm curious, in what province is the physical PR card required for getting a driver's license and medical card? In Ontario (and I thought most provinces), only the COPR is needed to do these things, and really the only reason i've seen the need for the physical card is for those needing it to travel...

In BC you can get everything they just will not issue a picture copy or hard copy...

More important than the PR card...is showing proof of residency....bills with current address on them, etc.....landlord tenant agreement...stuff like that....for getting banking / driver's license etc no?

Landed April 25th, husband's PR card arrived yesterday.

yes, exactly. in ontario, the pr card isn't the only item that can be used for proving immigration status. the copr will be accepted for that. as you suggest, there are also requirements to show proof of residency, which a pr card does not do. only a very strict list of documentation is accepted for proof of residency.

I landed June 1st and was hoping I would receive our cards by the end of this month based on the 54 day time on CIC website but after reading here I am doubting this will be the case. We are planning a summer road trip back to the states in August. Is it ok to travel without PR card? Any advice? Thank you

You don't need your PR Card if traveling in a personal vehicle. It's only needed if traveling via a commercial carrier, but even then U.S. citizens are exempt from the eTA requirement that is upcoming (September).

I applied for PR when I was in Toronto and its in process so now I moved in Ottawa and submitted my address change form online and it has been updated on the system.
I heard that it takes 2-3 months to transfer my file, Is that true? Help plzzzzzzz

A person who is going to sponsor his or her spouse, he or she shouldn't be on Ontario Works, right?
Does anyone have an idea like how many months before submitting the sponsorship application?

you would not be sending the pictures to toronto. the PR card processing centre is in Sydney, NS. I would suggest looking online for the pr application guide and look for the specifications. also, i'd recommend calling cic again or submitting a case specific inquiry to get the information you need for mailing them in. no one can tell you how long it will take to get your pr card. there are plenty of people who wait months for the pr card after submitting new photos. expect it to take some time.

Just sharing our timeline for PR card.

Landed on May 19th at Toronto Pearson. PR Card arrived in Toronto on July 19th.

Husband landed April 10th and no PR card.. Should I be worried? I see some April and May people have received theirs.

at this point, it may be a good idea to call CIC to check on the status of your card. they will be able to tell you if it's been mailed or still being processed, and if it hasn't been mailed they may be able to put in an inquiry for you. also, if it's missing, you'll want to fill out the "solemn declaration" form for the missing card. CIC generally won't accept a solemn declaration if hasn't been 4 or 6 weeks after the PR card was mailed out.

Landed June 2nd. PR card arrived today in the mail (July 25th). :)
