Congrats buddy !!!!sapeter said:It is 9:30 pm in Vancouver, and my wife and I just got back home. We did our landing in Peace Arch border service office this afternoon. Everything went very well. In stead of flagpoling, we entered the US and did some shopping there, filled the gasoline tank of our car, and went back to Canada at 5:30. Time delayed at the border was <5 minutes. Then we were lead to the border office.
When we arrived there no one was waiting in the line, but only one officer was processing these files. We waited for about 15 minutes, and were welcomed by her. Several general questions were asked, such as "do you have any criminal records all over the world", "do you have any dependents other than the child (we have a baby born in Canada)", "Do you take any items to declare". It is noteworthy that she did ask how much fund we prepared for landing. I told her we had 20k dollars in our bank account. She wrote it down, but did not ask for any proof of that. She asked our address, then she asked us to sign on the COPR, took our passports and asked us to take a seat.
After couple of minutes, she came back with our passports, two paper flags of Canada, and a copy of information for PR. She said "Congratulations. Your PR cards will be mailed to the address you just gave me in 6-8 weeks. Your confirmation are stapled to your passports. You can enter Canada by car with the confirmation, but not by plane. If you travel by air you must need the PR cards. To maintain PR you must stay in Canada for 2 years over the following 5 years, starting from today. Otherwise your PR will be taken back. Welcome to Canada". She also mentioned SIN, but we were too excited to remember every word she said.
After over 20-month waiting, legally we are permanent residents now. Thanks to all the friends on this forum. Hope everything be well to you all!
US embassy dont stamp your passport but canadian does. They won't ask you any question will just give you one paper to show to Canadian embassy.Rouble said:Hello Everyone...Can anyone please tell me what to say at port of entry at the border?
Do they stamp your passport as entry denied or something like that at the US border because technically you would want to cross the country to become PR and they won't let you...right? I just want to make sure i say the right thing.
