Hello Seniors,

I am a March applicant and now I am waiting for my Medicals to arrive. Me and my wife live in Canada and last month, we knew that my wife is pregnant and the delivery day is in March 2013. I have two questions:

1- What do I have to do when I receive the medicals? Do I have to inform CIC first or will the doctor who is going to do our medicals inform CIC?

2- Since the X-Ray will be done after the baby birth and since the baby is going to be born in Canada, what do we need to do after the baby birth? Do we need to update our application to include the baby? Is there any other process we need to follow.

I appreciate your reply.

Thanks....

1. You will have to tell the processing office that it is your intention to delay the medical until the child is born. So it is sort of pointless to do either of your medicals until your wife is ready. Since the medical is only valid for a year.
2. You send a copy of the baby's birth certificate and amend your IMM 5406.

If the child is born in India while the PR application is in process, what all forms need to be sent to CIC ?

Is there anything else that has to be done to include the child in the PR application ?

Pls advise if someone has been in this situation.

Hi PMM,

With regards to point (2) > sending baby's birth certificate and amending IMM 5406, what if someone choses not to send these until the PR status is attained for the one's already applied (passport is stamped)?

When at a later stage can the baby's name be included and how ?

1. Then the COPR is invalid as the child would not have been "examined" and would no longer be a member of the family class and could not be sponsored.
2. Note this doesn't apply to AK1737 as his/her child is born in Canada and is a Canadian citizen and doesn't have to be sponsored.

Hi PMM,

Could you please advise regarding the forms that need to be filled and submitted if a child is born in India during the PR process ?

Also, I heard that in order to prove that the child is born to the parents who are part of the application, either of the spouse's passport needs to be amended to include the name of the other spouse. Is that true ?

1. The IMM08 has to be amended, the IMM 5406 a passport, photos, birth certificate and fee.
2. No, the passports don't have to show the spouses on them.

Hi PMM/friends,

Just a small doubt.

Can we inform CIC well in advance regarding a child's birth that is due sometime later after having received AOR or we should inform once the child is born.

In your case, as the child will be born in Canada, there is not much of a concern.

Sometimes receiving Medical Request from CIC could take its own sweet time. So just hold on, until your get your MR and then inform CIC on your wife's present health condition. Get it done after March asap.

You writing to CIC in advance (quoting AOR) might delay the release of Medical Request from CIC.
