I applied for my mother's PR under H&C category. Her application was accepted and we got first stage approval on May 10. It has been more than 194 days now and we haven't received medical requests. Can anyone show some guidelines on how to get med request? Or, what is the wait time these days to get med request after first stage approval?

Here are the timelines.

1) We received your application for permanent residence on November 10, 2015.
2) We started processing your application on April 25, 2016.

First stage approval on May 10, 2016.

I ordered GCMS notes and in Oct 12, 2016 it is mentioned that med are in progress since Aug 28, 2016 and CIC has pulled previous med history done in Nov 2013 for super visa with validity till Nov 2014. Any advice from senior members is greatly appreciated.

There is no set processing time for H&C, so one person's timeline will be completely different from the next person's.

You need to just wait.

I have a different opinion and I have a reason. Since application got approval from backlog office Vancouver, file was transferred to Niagara office which processes all the files for PR for applicants residing in Canada. Niagara office is centralized processing center, it becomes secondary at this point whether application is H&C, PNP, Express entry, refugee or etc. All goes into linear queue. Had this been in pre approval stage I would have buy your statement.

Hi there,

Good luck with your application. Did you apply for PR before H&C? ON what grounds are you doing H&C?

Did your mom has medical history in Canada other than the visits for supervisa, like seeing a family doctor or being hospitalized?
Do you know if CIC checks the medical history in Ca?

Thanks a lot.

There is no centralized processing centre in Niagara that processes all apps in Canada...

I was accepted for H&C last October (1st stage) and then in November exactly after ine month I received the medical request along with some form to fill up (Schedule A) with police certificate request, to pay PR fees and removal fees since i was deported.
Since last November i was goig through ARC and it was approved end of this September and since then I'm waiting for passport request or any other request.

So in my opinion since you are in Canada, check the acceptance letter and see who's the immigration officer and try to call him/her to verify what's going on. I did not do that since im outside of Canada but i know someone who was able to call the agent with an accepted H&C application.

I could find the immigration office name but not sure where to call. There is no phone number mentioned to call other than call center. Any idea?

there are no numbers to call and talk to a specific visa officer. the only number to call is the main call centre. they will not be able to give much more information about your file than you already know, and they for sure will not be able to give you a timeline as they are not in the specific office handling the file. specific file questions can be submitted through a case specific enquiry on the cic website.

I thought of the same but I don't know how other member "Taxed" mentioned that he knows someone who was able to get hold of visa officer. Not sure if that was misleading information.

*if* it is true, then more than likely the visa officer contacted the applicant first (by letter or phone) and provided specific contact information.

That's exactly how it happened and that's why I mentioned that i did not try it myself.
Now since there's no phone number on the letter, you could send a letter to the immigration officer asking him for any updates regarding the file.
