Family Class application (Spouse)

Application received in Mississauga Office: April 17, 2009
Processing your application on May 7, 2009
Decision Made: May 12, 2009
Application start at Local office in London, U.K: 28th May 2009.

Email received on 10th July 2009 from local London office stating that it is deemed necessary to attend an interview with immigration officer, date and time yet to be decide; they will contact me once the date will be schedule.

From 10th July till today is more than 7 months but there is no sign of interview. I have emailed them in the end of September 2009. They have told me it will be expected in Nov/Dec 2009 but no sign and when I emailed them again on 10th Jan 2010 they told me it will be in next 2-3 months. I am just wondering that how come it is possible that your application is in queue since 7 months. Please help me what to do in this situation. Me and my wife both are very disappointed with the progress.

Please give us any suggestion.

I am so surprised of the processing time of your case is so long.
I sent application on 31 Aug, and the file transfer to Buffalo, New York on Oct 7, on Nov 7 they sent letter required interview, and then Nov 11 they sent letter stating the date and location. I will have interview in Feb.
You can send them email asking about your case. It would be so long as London timeline is pretty fast.
Good luck.

I have emailed them in Sept 2009. They have replied that, they are planning to schedule in Nov/December 2009 but no sign for any interview till mid of Jan 2010. I have emailed them again in Jan 2010 and they replied in same way that it might be schedule in next 2/3 months. I am just wondering how can they are scheduling an interview since 7 months.

Please share your experience if anyone waiting for an interview from London office, in family class/spouse immigration to Canada.

Regards !

Hi Beans - check out some posts from sadgirl - she has unfortuantely been waiting too. London is fast sometimes but it depends on the circumstances. For example a UK born national who has not lived outside the UK and who has no military connection a fully checkable history etc appears to be approved/decided more quickly than a non UK national who has to apply via London as the local office. If there are other country checks to be done this causes delays. It also could be pot luck.

I have also seen in the past that they schedule a bunch of interviews together so they may just trying to fill the calender.

Good luck to you.

Thanks Woopie. Yes I am also thinking this might be a possibility beacuase I am pakistani national and have U.K work permit. Lets see what will comes up ;D and I have attached my both pakistani and UK Police certificates. My Pakistani police certificate is already been expired as they issue only for 6 months. I am just thinking it makes no sense, if they are waiting for the expired police certificate.

I am sponsoring my husband who's of Hungary nationality.
We both have lived in the UK for almost 4 years since 2006. In 2009, we submitted the application of which his part was processed in the end of July. Since then the application status on CIC website is "In Process" for a very long time with no further update.
A few days ago I sent an email to the Immigration and got a reply today telling us about the long queue of applicants and a date for an interview is to be scheduled.

We were optimistic about the processing time, but having read some of the "waiting experiences" posted on the forum, we're feeling disappointed now.

By the way, being asked for an interview means that our application or proof of our marriage is not "strong" enough???

I don't know what to say. I am having very bad experience with CIC-London and my recommendation is for every one that if you are not from U.K then never filed your case from here. In case if they require interview they will keep the people queue for almost 8-9 months and during that time they will expire your medical and all the documents you submitted to them and after interview they will ask to re-submit everything and you have to do same process again. I think CIC-London is total waste of your time/money/plans.

Hi - a visit from the PR card holder will be fine. Whilst she must be in Canada to sponsor, she is not expected to forgo vacations and such. Providing she is residing, working etc in Canada she can visit you.

Also, to all of you waiting to hear from London, I wish you good luck and really hope they speed up. Some of the problems, whilst frustrating for you, can be to do with the Canadian intelligence checks required for every PR applicant. If you are applying through London and are not a UK national it really is slow. If you want to see what's going on with your file, you can order CAIPS notes (do a search on here, many people have done this) which will have various codes etc. It may not be a measure of how genuine your application is but a red tape issue. Keep smiling folks, it will happen for you.

Hi everyone, i just found this posting................

So i am waiting for an interview too, I e-mailed the London Office 1st week of Jan 2010 and got a reply stating "Interview will be scheduled within 2-3 months and i will be notified of the date shortly"

London starting processing application April 2009, so over average processing times, i am living in Canada on an extended tourist visa, as my wife is 34 weeks pregnant and its better to be together, baby is due May 5th, hope to have this sorted by then.

As the London office e-mailed me and said the above, can i not hold them to that, "within 2-3 months???

I hope they will schedule your interview in next 2-3 months. I have received first email back in july 2009 stating they required interview but date is not scheduled. I have emailed them just 2 months that I still haven't received any date of interview from july 2009 till feb 2010. After every 2-3 months they have told me next 2-3 months. They decided my date of interview almost after 8 months.

Thanks folks for all your replies.

My medical is expiring in april next month and still waiting for an interview to be arranged. Any idea like if i m going to be demanded for a new medical ? and is that true that a spouse visa is valid till the expiry of a medical ?

cheers

Hi Syedd

It is likely you will need a new medical. The "visa" you will receive in the passport will have the date you need to land by - it will be either passport expiry date or medical expiry date whichever is sooner. This visa gets you into Canada and you will not use it again as you will receive your PR card.

Syed,

My medical will also be expire just before my interview. My wife sent the email to CIC-London they replied of her that email that I should go ahead and take new medical ahead of time before interview. Your interview date has not been decide yet. I hope when they will give you interview date. They will also ask you to under go medical examination again. Be patient and wait for interview date. It takes time, as I told you I have waited 8 months to decide the interview date due to log interview queue at CIC-London. Your file must be queue.
