Hello all!

As you can see we've already submitted the application a few days ago (outland) but based on another thread I started thinking and wanted to get your thoughts.

My husband has dual citizenship with Peru (born) and Italy (through grandfather). He lived the majority of his life in Lima, Peru but also studied for his MBA for 2 years here in Canada, and also prior to that working summers and studying English (when he was younger). We are now living together in Toronto and he has a post graduate work permit until June 2016.

We didn't indicate which VO we prefer (to be honest, I sort of forgot about it), but based on your knowledge of the process, where is he likely to get processed? I expect Lima, but now started to think maybe it will stay here in Canada. If so, is the 15 months processing time in Ottawa accurate? I almost prefer they send it to Lima (only 7 months as of today!).

Thank you!

No one can tell you this and no one can choose wich VO will process the files anymore.
CIC will choose the office based on citizenship or residency, but again, it's their choice.
And the processing time is for the worst case scenario. Ottawa is taking 8~10 months.

Hey Dan,

Thanks for your response. I figured as much, but thought to ask (because what else can i do while waiting for any news from CIC, haha).

Good to know about the processing times as worst case scenarios, there is hope!

They have seemed to be sending apps to applicants birth countries, so you might be ok yet.

You can ask for them to change the visa office by email, I don't think just saying you want shorter processing times is a good reason though. It probably wouldn't hurt to try, just say you forgot to request the visa office and you request Peru. Does he have an application # yet and/or UCI?

Peru is very fast, but Ottawa can be very fast too. Rome is also fast, so you have a good roulette wheel going regardless. :)
