Visitor visa rejected

Hello
I applied for my inlaws canada visa... However it got rejected due to reasons as undermentioned
1)You have not satisfied me that you would leave Canada at the end of your stay as a temporary resident.
2) Insufficient funds

My father in laws sister stays in Canada and she had provided them a sponsorship letter and a invitation letter clearly stating that she would borne all their expenses.Apart from this we had submitted documents declaring around 16,00,000 INR .How can this be insufficient fund ??? Even after declaring that all their travel expenses will be borne my host ?? (Thats his Sister). However we had not submitted her bank statement or any other documents to substantiate the same.Their stay period was for 3 months and we had submitted RETURN TICKET to substantiate their return back to India. We want to reapply can you suggest us with what supporting documents do we have to reapply so that we can satisfy consulate regarding the above mentioned two points. How can we prove that their intention is is to retun back to India?? Can I submit their property documents, rental agreement or any other documents to substantiate the same ??

Added complication due to our reapplication
Moreover, previously the plan was to visit America conducted tour package was booked from India and from there it was planned they would travel to Canada.So return ticket provided to visa office is from Canada to India directly.
Now I wish to change their plan , first visiting Canada later visiting America through tour package hence now return ticket will be from Canada to America later after 15 days gap America to India.So the problem here is I dont have direct return ticket from Canada to India..?? This would be the added issue for our re application ??? Can you please suggest what best can I do ?? Please its quite urgent.

You didn't submit sufficient supporting evidence.

In addition to providing a letter - your father in law's sister also need to provide proof that she has funds in the form of bank account statements or payroll statements.

A return ticket isn't sufficient. Your inlaws need to provide documents showing they have strong ties to their home country and will return there after their visit. This can include: property ownership documents, lease agreements, proof of employment, proof of business ownership, proof of bank accounts held and other assets.

Hi Tejaswini,

It seems your in-laws have good ties to India but they have not presented these facts properly. This is why the visa officer believes they will remain long-term beyond their visit.


First, the refusal reason for Insufficient Funds:
a. Your in-laws must provide evidence of liquid funds ie 6 months' bank statements, foreign currency, FDs (if not locked in), etc.... typically about CAD 1000 per week per person

There must be no large, recent deposits in their bank accounts.... if there are then you must explain the source of the money (ie not borrowed from anyone for the visa)


b. You may want to prepare a detailed Travel Itinerary with expense estimates.... and prove your in-laws have the finances for this itinerary regardless of whether your FIL's sister will take care of these expenses


Other evidence for strong ties to India
a. Property ownership documents, including Sale Deed + Property Tax receipts + current market evaluation, etc

b. Rental Agreement (if they have rented a premise from/to someone) + rent receipts

c. Family ties in India/Employment or business situation/any other responsibilities and obligations in India


Your FIL's sister must provide: Invitation Letter + copy of her passport + immigration status + bank statement + NOA/T4, etc


Regarding the trip to the US, the change in plans to visit Canada first and then the US will be a positive factor for their TRVS..... as they have booked the American tour package, they must leave Canada to go on this trip

It's okay if their return flight to India is from the US and not from Canada.... you can submit the flight bookings/travel itinerary for Canada-US-India for their return

In continuation of my previous post, I would like to inform you that I am reapplying today my in laws visa application with the following docs namely Passport, rental agreement, property ownership deed, updated bank statements nearing around 20,00,000 INR for total stay period of 2.5 months , clear letter providing explanation against each point raised by consulate, conducted tour package details of USA and return tickets.

And we are further providing hosts passport, Immigration certificate, Bank statements, FD statement, Sponsorship letter, and employment letter.

But I am unable to provide current market evaluation statement... Is it very necessary ?? or can I just add a line in our letter stating the current value?? and kindly let me know if these documents would suffice ??

Hi Tejaswini,

For your in-laws, do add evidence which I have listed in my previous post to show their strong ties (and for bank statements - explain the source of this money ie whether business/employment/investment returns). Their documents will be scrutinized more closely than the Host's documents.

It is not necessary to provide current market evaluation.... however, unless the property value has depreciated for an XYZ reason, it's logical that current market realty prices will be higher than the property buy price. Hence, this means the property value will be more.

You can also check out the Property Times sections of the Times of India.... or websites like MagicBricks, 99acres.com, etc..... which could provide indicative market prices for the area where your in-laws' property is located

I also had similar problem like Tejaswani.

I had applied canada visitor visa for my father in-law and mother in-law... However it got rejected due to below reasons-

1) No Travel History
2) Insufficient Funds

I am residing in canada from last more than 2 years and my wife from last 1 year, we both are employed well known IT firms in Canada, and we are very highly paid skilled worker.

We had attached our below documents-

Applicants documents
- 6 Months Bank statement that has current balance around 30,000 INR.
- FD for 50,000 INR
- Mutual Fund for 2 Lacs
- Business license for Chemist shop ( issued since 1973)
- Income Tax return for last 2 years
- Duration to stay in Canada 4 months in Invitation Letter and Visa Form.

Invitee documents
- Last 6 months back statement that has balance around 40K CAD (including me and my wife band account)
- My and my wife's Employment Letter
- My and my wife's T4
- Invitation Letter stating that we will bear all their travel expenses (round trip), fooding, lodging and all other expenses.
- Rent Agreement

We want to re-apply with all strong supporting documents to make sure it must fulfill all their need to get it approved this time.

Below are changes that we are planning to do at applicant side to make their application stronger-
- My parent has one more bank account that was opened 2 months back and had outstading balance of around 2 Lacs. (As it was opened recently so, we didn't attached it first time)
- My parent have their own house in city that has value around 50 Lacs, so we want to valued it and attached this time. (As it was not valuated earlier and document was in Hindi so didn't attached it fist time)
- We are planing to transfer around 2 Lacs in my parents bank account now, so that same can be reflected in their bank statement this time. please advise if we should do it or not?, if yes then how to justify it.

Will above changes be enough to avoid insufficient fund issues? How can we stratify the Travel history issue? My parents have not traveled to abroad before.

Please advise if we need to take any other actions to make the application stronger and avoid rejection this time... This is very vey urgent.. Please reply.. Thanks in advance.!!
