Visitor visa refused? Very confused

Hello,

Some background:

I am a Canadian citizen and my wife is a Pakistani national. We currently reside in Australia on a temporary resident visa that allows me to work there as a doctor. We also have a son who was born last year in Australia - he is a Pakistani national as well.

We are currently visiting Pakistan and applied for a visitor visa so my wife and child can come with me to Canada to see my family.

We applied for a visitor visa on February 15th and had her biometrics done on February 19th. The IRCC website acknowledged receipt of biometrics on February 20th. We then received a message from the IRCC on February 29th. When I logged in it showed a message that said your application has been approved. It also had letters asking for their passports.

Passports were submitted the next day on March 1st. After submitting their passports I noticed the original message stating approval had vanished.

Now I was notified by the VAC today that their passports had arrived. When I went to pick them up there was no visa in either passport.
Nothing else either in the envelopes. The online status has not changed nor has there been any rejection letter sent or anything of the like.

Does anyone know what the AF is going on here?

Isn’t your child Canadian since you are Canadian? If so not eligible for a TRV. You would be applying for citizenship certificate and then passport.

As for spouse, TRV may have been refused because IRCC believes you should be sponsoring her for PR. IRCC thinks that any spouse of a Canadian citizen should be sponsored and showing your plans to settle in Canada.

Order GCMS notes.

No my child is not a citizen due to change in the citizenship act in 2009 by Harper. That law is due to change this fall.

We are not planning on settling in Canada at the moment and only wanted to visit before we return to Australia.

What about the zero change in status in the IRCC portal? What about the disappearing message. Could someone have screwed up and asked for the passports a little early?

So you were not born in Canada?

Order GCMS notes. As I mentioned IRCC usually wants to have families of Canadian citizens applying for their spouses and children’s PR. It is possible, passports were asked for too early.

Ok I’ll order the notes but I see it takes 30 days - we needed them to be there in April.

Yes, I was born abroad back and came back to Canada with my mother 6 months thereafter.

The fact that you were not in Australia and have been given for quite some time since your left makes your ties to Australia much weaker and it submit likely that you may not j be returning to Australia. Why was your family traveling to Canada, will they be traveling with you, how long do they want to visit Canada, are you still employed as an MD in Australia and when are you scheduled to return to work, do you have a home in Australia, etc.?

Why did they wait to apply for a TRV until they got to Pakistan? Given there are no guarantees of approval applying without much buffer time is quite risky.

you must have made screenshots of approval message on the portal and describe the whole situation and send the email to canadian commissioner in Islamabad or where your visa application is originally processed , i mean Abu dhabi office?

They exactly know what is going on with your visa application and they are much faster to reply to your query than IRCC or other third parties.

status: is your application closed? this is the link. https://ircc-tracker-suivi.apps.cic.gc.ca/en create an account and see the timeline. Also you can see there if any visa number is issued

Raise webform, explain the situation, attach your PPRs with the explanation.
I think the officer gave you approval and then realized that there is something wrong and revoke the approval. This could happen but very rarely.

There are situations where passports are requested or are sent in advance but then are returned without any stamping typically because applications are denied. Human error likely the reason.

Hello again,

So I emailed the embassy in Islamabad that same day - It's been almost a month ad I've received no reply

Now, we received emails from the IRCC today
Logging into the account it's again saying the applications have been approved (I thankfully have taken screenshots this time around) at the top of the page
Final decision is also showing application approved (as was showing previously)
And again letters requesting passports

Tracker as recommended by someone above is still showing as everything in progress.

Color me skeptical but I don't have any trust in these clowns any more so I am going to hold off on doing anything until Monday - Maybe the message will disappear again like last time.
