Visitor visa or SOWP for spouse after getting AIP as primary applicant

I received AIP the day before yesterday and now I am planning to apply for a visa for my spouse.

Will it be safe to apply for a SOWP or Visitor visa for my spouse as of now by considering the scenario that I’ll be taking online classes initially and haven’t received the visa stamping yet on my passport as VFS centers are still closed in India?

I received AIP on Aug 17,2020. My spouse has visitor visa valid until 2024. I am wondering, should I apply SOWP from India or should I try changing visa status of my spouse after landing in Canada ?

Apply SOWP for your Spouse
Since you two didn't apply together, you have to wait till you get to Canada and receive your Study Permit.

Couldn't I apply from India right now as my program has commenced and I have enrolled ? Because, processing time is quite long these days and if I apply after getting in to Canada, I would have very little left for my study visa as mine is one year program. Kindly suggest.

Yes you can apply now as long as you have full approval. Currently any person with SOWP needs special permission to enter Canada unless they have a job.
