Hi there

I'm planning to visit Canada from February to 9 March 2020.
I am applying for my Visitor Visa.
I can see that it wants my history of travel in the last 5 years. I travelled Europe but I did it through a travel agent and I just cant seem to find my tickets from 2014. I remember the agency giving a hard copy, printed ticket though. I also used a different passport to travel before (it has now expired) so I don't have any stamps or anything.

I was told that I should just NOT mention that Europe trip in the 5257b (Application for Temporary Residence) form.

What has been your experience? Should I not mention it? I don't have any proof of tickets, boarding pass, passport, visa, stamp etc.

Why would you not mention a trip you did take? Not mentioning it is misrepresentation, and if your name comes up during background checks as having travelled to the EU, you're misrepresenting and can be banned. You have to mention it.

Best rule when applying is don’t lie about anything. Even if you’ve done something wrong admit like overstaying your error. If you are caught leaving information out like previous refusals or travel you will likely receive a ban from Canada for years. On top of that travel to Europe will help your case if your travel was for tourism. Unfortunately it is quite a while ago so not super helpful but better than nothing.

You can submit copies of your old passport which will have the visa and immigration stamps of your Europe visit.

I am sure you will have your old passport as it is not advisable to destroy it ever. In case you have lost it then mention that in additional information and also mention about your trip to Europe in the 5257b.

Yeah I don't know where I've put my old passport. It might even be in my home country (different from country of residence).

I see. So based on your answer, it seems like it's okay to not have all the evidence, as long as I explain that I have lost the evidence. Is that right?

Agreed that I shouldn't lie. So, I should mention it AND mention that I don't have the evidence of travel anymore.

For realistic-expectation purposes, as far s you know, will I be denied the visitor visa if I can't produce the evidence mentioned?

Lying is what hurts people the most in immigration application. Yes just provide an explanation.
