@ DeeDee33, IndoCanadian and Tannygirl,

I have quick question about my wife's visitor visa application.

1. My wife is applying for her visitor visa for a period of approx 4 weeks or 1 month. How much funds is required to show in her bank account for a period of 1 month approx? Is 2000 CAD good enough? If she has less funds, can she just tell that her parents will also support financially for her trip and show her Dad's recent bank statements as a proof that he will support her financially if required. In my letter of invitation I have also written that I would be taking care of all her expenses and everything and would be using her extra funds only if necessary. So, in this case is 2000 CAD good enough or not?

2. Travel history - is it necessary to have an excellent travel history to increase your chances of getting visitor visa? She has some travel abroad with me but not an extensive one!

3. Employment leave letter - Also, She is not able to get employment leave letter as she has already used all her vacation this year because of marriage and honeymoon. So, in this case in order to demonstrate family tie back home is it OK if she shows her car loan letter? Is this good enough? My concern is not having leave letter will it weaken her application or it will depend on her overall application and not just this leave letter? She does not own her own property back home. She lives with her parents.

Please share your experiences. I am trying to make our application as strong as possible. I want to make sure she gets her visitor visa and we are submitting all the documents as per the document checklist mentioned in this forum started by Tannygirl.

Thanks in advance.

@ Vgugliya,

Please find my answers in "red".

I am applying for TRV for my wife and have below queries:

1. FORM # 5257E: Question 2.d of background information "Applied previously to enter or remain in Canada". Should we tick it "yes" as PR visa application is already in process? -------------I think you should tick "NO" it is true your PR is in process but you don't know the results yet. It is basically asking if you had applied previously what was the result? and currently you don't have any result. So the answer should be "NO".
2. It would be great if you can share the covering, declaration and invitation letters (hiding your personal information). I learned that these letters matters alot in decision making and I do not want to take any chance with my application. We both are newly married and miss alot each other.......you all can understand -------------- Sure. They are indeed very important. Just follow this link and you will get all the information you need. I followed this link which formed the basis for all my letters.

@me447,

Please find my answer in red.

Hi Guys,

I need a favor.

Can anyone share me the sample of your notarised declaration of financial letter. ------------ Follow this link and get one of the letter notarized. So, in my case the letter of invite which was sent by me to my wife, I got it notarized which had all the details like purpose of visit, financial declaration etc ...The husband's letter of invite should be notarized.

I don't agree with answering NO to that question. They ask very clear if you APPLIED, which you did. It doesn't matter the future answer, you have applied, that's for sure, and anyway you will say about this in your letter. I said YES and I gave my file number.

I think 2000 CAD for one month is enough, why not? It's not like a regular canadian spends more for food and stuff in one month, considering she doesn't have to pay rent because she live with you, I really think it should be enough. Of course, if you can add her parents letter of supporting and bank statements maybe it's a plus, I did not complicated myself with parents' bank account. So my opinion is 2000 is enough.

The letter from my husband was notarized at city hall, declaration under oath, he declared he invites me here, I will live in his apartment and he will support my expenses.

Travel history I had my vacations abroad nothing fancy, one summer vacation per year, write where she traveled, you cannot invent stuff or put less than she has, just write where she traveled. It might help if she has visas for other countries and she did not overstayed, I didn't had such (ex USA visa).

The car loan documents are for sure important, add that as a tie. I didn't had any car or home :) so you have something extra.

But with the letter from work hm... she must show that she has vacation for that period, I guess. Really she cannot take from HR a letter? She could invent some reason or something. I don't say you will be refused for that, I really think it's a matter of good luck and politics only, but normally she should have that letter, along with income and position title from the company. No idea how you could compose the letter if you cannot prove that she is able to leave from work in that period. Maybe someone else can help you, I hope so!

@DeeDee33,

Thanks for clarifying.

Yeah. She has the letter from employer stating her income and position but she does not have an approved vacation leave letter. Is this extremely important? Only letter stating income and position is not good enough? For establishing return ties to home country, she would be giving her loan letter. So is this not good enough?

Cheers.

Hi everyone!

I applied for the Visitor Visa for Canada from India.
I am happy to inform you that IT HAS BEEN GRANTED to me! :D :D :D

My husband (sponsor) and I (principal applicant) have applied for my PR under Family Class.
On the forum I had read several times that it's nearly impossible to be granted a visitor visa while PR application is in process and that there is a 98% rejection rate, but I'm here to say that it's POSSIBLE!
But I applied and I got it!

I have been granted a ONE-YEAR MULTIPLE ENTRY visa to Canada.

What worked for us is that I showed PLENTY of TIES TO HOME and also convinced them that I will not overstay.

Here is a list of documents I submitted- It took a lot of time and energy to gather, but it's been worth it!

IMP: I applied for a travel duration of ONE MONTH. (They usually issue a 6 month visa, but best not to say you'll stay for 6 months!) It has to be long enough that it's believable, but short enough that it doesn't make them feel like you're trying to stay permanently !

Before applying for Canada Tourist Visa, I also applied (and was granted) a 10 year multiple entry visa to the U.S.
I think this carries some amount of weightage so it's probably a good idea to get a US tourist visa before applying for Canada.

My documents:
1. Income Tax Returns for last 4 years ( as many years as you have filed!)
2. As I am a freelancer, so no employer leave letter I submitted-My invoices, Contracts & Purchase orders for my work. (to prove I have ties to home)
3. Aadhar card copy
4. Drivers license copy
5. Pan card copy
6. Marriage certificate
7. PCC for all the countries I have spent more than 6 months in.
8. Visa Medical
9. Bank statements of the last 6 months
10.Car ownership papers (with ongoing loan)
11.Return flight tickets (THIS IS VERY IMP APPARENTLY- NEVER BOOK A ONE WAY TICKET, THEY'LL SURELY REJECT THE VISA)
12.My travel & employment history (same as submitted for the PR visa application)
13.My resume
14.A kick ass cover letter giving reasons why I will not overstay the Visitor Visa and why I have to return to India after my trip.
15.A letter from my dad on a stamp paper saying I will return as per my flight dates.

My husband's documents:
16. His employment letter of confirmation from the company where he works
17. Income Tax Returns filed in Canada
18. Pay stubs from the last 3 months
19. Bank Statements of last 6 months
20. PR Card copy
21. SPONSORSHIP APPROVAL LETTER (Super important)
22. Our travel together (flight tickets, hotel bookings etc)
23. Our photos together from the wedding & before & after the wedding- to establish that our marriage is real!(this is very important too, apparently, one girl told me to send that in because they rejected her visa saying there isn't enough proof of her marriage- even though she submitted her marriage certificate copy!!)
25. Our chat messages from over 1 year (same as submitted for the PR application)
26. Travel insurance that my husband bought for me (in Canada) for the duration of my trip.
27. A notarized declaration from my husband stating he will pay for my expenses & that I will not be a burden on the Canada.
28. A notarized invitation letter (addressed to VO) from my husband inviting me to visit him in Canada.
29. A hand written personal invitation from him to me asking me come and visit him (this is a personal letter, with lovey-dovey words about how much he misses me and wants to see me)

The reason why people get rejections is because they're not proving their ties to their home country.
If you can show that you have a lot of things/ people/ property/ assets that are in your home country that you won't just leave behind- they will grant you a visa.

Another thing, in my cover letter, I stated UP FRONT that I have a PR application in the system (gave my UCI etc) and said that I would never do anything to jeopardise my PR application by over staying on a Tourist Visa. I just want to visit my husband since we're newly married and I miss him.

Stay positive and send as many documents as you can.
be truthful and stick to your word if you're granted the Visa-
The VOs are humans too and they can empathise with your feelings, as long as you convince them you're not going overstay, they won't reject you. :)

Good luck & God Speed everyone! 8)
Congratulations...unfortunately, not everyone is residing in their home country because their home country is a mess. Just the fact that one has a stable job should be enough...as outland applicants can't work in Canada even if they do visit for extended periods. Having to provide all of this just to get a visitor visa is absolutely insane. CIC needs to be more compassionate. The simple fact is why would anyone jeopardize their PRV application by violating the terms of a visit visa?

@me447 I had them in original, he sent them via courier to me. Not sure if copies are enough, I didn't think so.

@vnarayan If she doesn't have the letter, that's it, you send without it, I cannot say if it's enough or not, but for sure it was better to have a letter about her vacation. She cannot talk with someone at HR just to give her like so a piece of paper?

@chillkotcee,

I absolutely agree with you. It is ridiculous.

I think we all in this forum should write a letter to Chris Alexander, minister of immigration to allocate necessary resources to fasten the family class PR applications especially the spouse ones. With the elections coming, this is a good opportunity to push for changes in policies related to immigration. Just as citizenship process has become more streamlined, the PR process should also. I also think till the PR is in process, they should understand this and allow much easier processing of TRV for spouse outside canada instead of being so stringent. This will at least allow spouses to come to Canada on TRV much easily while PR is on process instead of being away with the loved ones for a longer time!

@me447 - Yes - I also had the notarized letter in original.

@ DeeDee33 - Yes - She is trying to get that but for HR to give it requires manager's approval and her manager most likely is not ready to approve.

Guys - Let us all be serious and do something about this PR long processing times and TRV strict processing. Its time we all raise the questions or write a nice letter to Chris alexander which will force them to do something especially with these elections coming instead of just congratulating each other on TRV. This will not only help us but is also going to help future applicants otherwise this is just going to continue like this with more people crying about the wait times in the future!

Cheers.

I have already signed it!

Cheers.

Yes - I agree. I am also not sure why people are hesitant. I think it is time that we as people come together and think about the change and force the government to do something about it.

I sincerely request all people in this forum to sign the petition and join hands together to bring a change in the system.

Hi tanny! Could you expand on these if possible:

26. Travel insurance that my husband bought for me (in Canada) for the duration of my trip. - how did he manage that before you even came here?
27. A notarized declaration from my husband stating he will pay for my expenses & that I will not be a burden on the Canada. - did he go to a Notary Public office to get this notarized?

Do you mind sharing the cover letter? May be parts of it so you dont give out the personal details?!?!

You can make travel insurance from Canada for a person that didn't arrive yet, there is no problem. Basically I want to be covered for the entire trip, this includes the first flight, so of course it can be done before you arrive in Canada.

You can notarize the letter at city hall.

@ DeeDee33

I think I did ask about this but I guess it was missed but I am posting it again. Let me know if you have any comments or suggestions.

Thanks for the long message. It was indeed good to hear your story and details.

Yes - you are absolutely correct. This is a recent forum and everybody is pretty successful in getting spouse visitor visa. I am also following the same document checklist and I hope my wife gets visitor visa also. We are also newly married and as any other couple we also miss each other a lot as it has been already more than 4 months now after marriage.

I just like to learn a lot from people's live experiences who have been in same situation especially when it comes to immigration. When I was evaluating different strategies, these were some of the questions that came into my mind because last thing I don't want to do is screw up PR process. SO, I want her to be very careful about what she is saying to CIC officer at the border entry when she comes on visitor visa to canada. All I can say is that I have also asked only for 1 month as many people have done in this forum. I did not ask for more because I thought it will be risky and my wife does not have lot of funds. So, the application would become weak. Therefore, currently I have told in the invitation letter all the points you just said and also our detailed plan while she is here and return ticket after a month. But my only concern is that what she should say at the border entry. Should she say she plans to stay while her PR gets processed as you mentioned at your entry even though she has a return ticket after a month or she should not say anything about her return plans? Whatever she says should not affect when she does the PR stamping within Canada after 5-6 months. That's all my worry and I am just making sure I make the right move the moment she gets the visitor visa.

What would be your final recommendation related to this?

@ Indocanadian and Tannygirl,

If you could also share any thoughts that would be really good related to this.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers.
