Hey I am a canadian living in China who is married to Chinese wife. We had applied in 2007 and recieved a TRV, which we used for a one month trip home in early 2008. At that time we were not married yet. We have just applied again and got a response that they wanted additional documentation. The additional documentation they requested is a china work permit for me. The problem is, I am employed by a canadian company, paid in Canada, pay taxes in Canada. With our latest application we submitted a copy of signed letter from my employer stating that I work for a Canadian company, my salary, and that my job requires to be in China. In addition to that we also submitted:

My wifes bank pass book showing a current balance of 185,000 RMB, with tranasaction over the last 1.5 years showing more then $80,000 canadian in and out.
Ownership papers for my wifes two residential properties and the land. (offical ones issued by goverment)
Ownership papers for my wifes three commercial properties................
Owndership papers for her automobile.
Ownership papers for her car park.
Signed and stamped letter of employment indicating she can return to her job when she returns from Canada. Also a copy of the factories business license.
Old passport showing previous Canadian visa
Letter of invitation from me including pay stubs
Copies of our return airline tickets.

I have asked my company to send me the original copy of my letter of employment, I will also include copies of my current passport and my old passport showing my history in China, and a copy of my 2008 T4. Should I take anything else in lieu of the work permit I don't have to help ensure we get the visa?

What type of Visa status do you have working in China ? And therefore a work permit ? For my wife to get a TRV I had to supply them my work permit and my Canadian passport with a Z visa. She just got approved today after I supplied the additional documents. To me it looks like you have more information then what we had to supply.

I took in anohter letter I wrote further explaining my situation, original letter of employment, T4, and a contract we have (unsigned) that pre-dates the original visa application from a company who is setting up a FICE (foreign invested enterprise). Submitted at 9 am, had visa at 2 PM same day. No worries.
