Maybe you are right and I have misread some posts here.
I would like to see 1 ordinary girlfriend post who got into Canada, if you say there are many success stories...I think I saw only 1 but she was rich business lady or something.
Secondly OP said his GF owns a house and property in Phil's. All she needed was to show some form of employment.
She has $5000 in the bank, she can afford to see Ripley's Aquarium lol. Banff is rich people option.
My point, even if she had a flawless application including previous US visa, she would blow it all by using the GF word.
I stand by my argument. There have been very limited success stories for spouses getting trv's but those are extremely hard to get- IMO a GF visa would be even worse because for spouses they can use the DUAL INTENT clause.
VO assumes the GF found some sucker on the internet to gain entry into Canada.

I don't understand why mentioning her boyfriend would be a red flag. I did just that and my girlfriend's application was approved. In my invitation letter, I also included the last 4 months of my bank statement cover pages and the last 6 months of paystubs, so that I could prove that I could cover her expenses.

To me, the length of visit is the potential red flag, it may be too short.

For proof of relationship, we included the IMM0006 form along with 4 pictures of the two of us together, but with restrictions being lifted, I am not sure if that is still applicable.

Need I dig up some more? Are you still calling BS? If so, on what basis now?

I understand that folks like you and leaf777 have a deep-seated need to be proven right and to pick fights online with anyone you perceive as in even slight disagreement with you. Leaf777 goes even further. I do not think she has ever so much as set foot in Canada, yet she is an expert on Canadian immigration law and can even tell me what my duties are to my country as a lawyer and how I ought to conduct myself here in Canada. Rare to see such temerity and such a huge ego. It started when I sent a courteous and sympathetic response to jc64. She saw fit to jump in and take me to task for my attitude to my own country. I pity her Canadian bf.

Also, Phalos, you might want to march leaf777 out to the woodshed and enlighten her that she is now altogether wrong in her advice to jc64. She purports to suggest ways to bootstrap a further TRV application. Please instruct her that there is now now hope. Jc64 and his gf have forever been blacklisted.
Ok there is some very little hope...You would need to show me a lot more than 2 successful cases.
Perhaps blacklisted was a tad over dramatized lol. My point is that its extremely hard. In both cases they ordered gcms notes and addressed the concerns, so that increases the odds.
BEING A STUDENT HELPS A TREMENDOUSLY...Student status with big funds overrules GF issue.

Your biggest mistake was presenting her as your girlfriend. VO's do NOT give 3rd world girlfriends, boyfriends and spouses of Canadians visit visas.
If you are not married yet, do NOT disclose your relationship and have your loved one invited by somebody else as a friend (of the same sex) Or simply apply as a pure tourist wanting to see Ripley's Aquarium in Toronto or ski in Banff...(The Niagara Falls excuse doesn't work anymore).
Im saying this for other people, because once you tell them GIRLFRIEND, you basically BLACKLISTED her from any future Visitor Visas...Even if you break up tomorrow she can never get a TRV ever again or have a very small chance (her chances went from 70% to 3% because word GIRLFRIEND.
I am currently in the process of applying for my "girlfriend" to come to Canada to visit in December. She is Thai, has roughly 50K CAD in savings, employed as a university professor in Bangkok, has a house and property etc, etc. As far as I can tell, she definitely fills all requirements.

After reading the above situation, should I state in the invitation letter that she is just my "long term friend"? She will be staying at my parent's house, so we won't need any additional accommodation, thoughts?

Thank you!

I am the one quoted here. I would like to add, my girlfriend was from Indonesia so she is from a country that is very similar to the Philippines as far as standard of living goes. We openly disclosed our relationship status in the application, why hide it? Plus, she also required IMM006 for the letter of authorization and without that, she would not have been able to travel to Canada at that time.

Where her situation differs from OP is that she was employed at least a year by one employer, was able to secure a strong letter from her employer, agreeing to let her take 3 months off. She also only ever traveled to Thailand once for 3 days, never anywhere else. She does own her own home but her savings were very low, think one week of pay at minimum wage here in Canada. I had never sent her money because she adamantly refused to accept any financial support.

Her second application was approved and she is here going on 6 months now. You could also say we "gamed the system" because we are now married and have an inland sponsorship application in progress. At first I felt a bit guilty, but an acquaintance of mine, who works for immigration, assured me that this is expected and that Canada does in fact want people immigrating to Canada, but only by Canada's rules.

IMO, I would say that OP's girlfriend needs to get a job. Don't bother waiting till next year because a visit to Canada will not happen this year for her. Also get that ATIP request in for the VO notes. It may or may not have helpful notes but you never know. Our notes DID have helpful information and we were able to address their concerns for the second application attempt, which was approved.

Its hard to say. The best (and highest chance) would be to find some sort of symposium or lecture series by a Canadian University and say she would like to attend. This would be the strongest "business trip" for PURPOSE OF VISIT.
If that is not an option, then I would suggest just applying as a tourist for a 2 week trip with hotel bookings and detailed travel plans. I see no benefit in having a BOYFRIEND invitation, it can only negatively impact an application if the Officer is being an asshole. Another possibility is having a female "aquaintance" friend invite her. Many people have friends in Canada...
If none of these are an option then try your luck with the BOYFRIEND SCENARIO as a last resort.
The guys who successfully invited their Girlfriends were extremely lucky. The VO does not see it as a BENEFIT having a boyfriend in Canada, so why mention it? A BOYFRIEND is by DEFAULT a STRONG TIE to Canada.
You won't be BLACKLISTED (I was exaggerating of course) but it serves no purpose.

best of luck and tag me what happens

People also win the at the Casino, but the system is rigged against them, a BIG win is pure luck...MOST PEOPLE LOSE.

Pretty much what we are doing. We rescheduled our vacation for a different location where she can easily get a TRV, and we ordered the notes to see if we can get any information. She has already found some employment and in a few months we will apply again and hopefully we can visit my parents in the summer.

Wish we applied from Bahrain before she left her job. Stupid us we thought would be easier in her home country. =/

What kind of travel history does she have? Any travel to Australia, UK, US, etc.? Even if you say friend it will be assumed that she is your girlfriend. If she has proof that she is scheduled to resume lecturing in the next semester and she only travels during a school break she should have a very good chance of approval. Does she own property or have a longterm lease that she can show? If the end of the lease is significantly later than her travel dates that will also help. It always comes down to a person’s profile.

She would still have a tough time if she applied from Bahrain.

not for it to change anything, but how would you address the invitation without being "blacklisted"?
Easy! do not say GIRL/BOYfriend ))))
Let me explain in simple terms. A Temporary Visa to get is means you can prove you are INDEPENDENT and TIED to your HOME country. As soon as you spit the word girlfriend or boyfriend or "friend" of opposite sex that you have been texting each other for the past 20 years on Skype, as soon as you say that - you are DONE.
