I would like to know what is the best thing to say if you want to have an extension visa to be approved?
I am asking because my wife is here in Canada on a tourist visa we are applying outland from within Canada.
In October her tourist visa expires and I would like to know if I should put that the original reason why she came to Canada was as a tourist and then decided to apply for a residency or tell them the truth that we got her tourist visa so she can be with my son and I in Montreal while waiting for her residency?

Carlo,

What did you say the reason for the visit was on her TRV application? Or did she already have a multple entry TRV? If you had just applied for a single entry TRV, I would state whatever it was that you wrote on that application, because it's possible for them to cross reference the TRV application if they want to. You don't want to have 2 different stories about reasons why she came unless she had a multiple entry visa from before...

Best to repeat the reason, as closely as possible, that she gave when she applied for the first visa. But, unless she lied, it really isn't that big an issue. As long as you have an application in process to sponsor her for permanent status, and she can demonstrate that you have a job and you're supporting her, she won't need much of anything else in order to have her status extended. Send proof of both and be sure that her application gets to them BEFORE her status expires, and that she keeps proof that they received her application before her status expired. That is her proof of being in Canada legally under "implied status" until she hears from them.
