Hey all, I'm new here and figured this was the best place to get some advice
I'm Australian, currently in Canada on a visitors visa which expires May 23rd. My husband (Canadian Citizen) and I are wanting to apply for PR under spousal sponsership.
We're awaiting on a few documents such as our marriage certificate and also awaiting on a family member to help us with legal and government fees as we intend to go with a lawyer and all of that probably won't happen before May 23rd
I'm a little worried because I know that I'm supposed to apply for the visa extension a month beforehand.
The lawyer suggested that I try applying for it on my own I have all the forms in front of me but it's a little bewildering.
Like for financial proof my husband is the one who is supporting me, so would he write a letter to state that and also submit statements of our joint Canadian bank account?
And for the purpose of why I'm extending my visitors visa should I say "To apply for permanent residency via Spousal Sponsership or should it just be something like "Wanting to spend more time with my husband."
One of the people we spoke to advised against mentioning PR in the extension for some reason but my original reason for entry when I arrived was to visit my fiance (at the time) and his family.
I hope you guys can help make this clearer for me it's quite stressful! Aha!
