Let's say you want to submit the spousal sponsorship at the same time with the visitor visa extension.

How would you fill out question 10?

Question 10:
I want to extend my stay in Canada until \-----\------\------\
year Month Day

I am confused on what date to put here since my husband is sponoring me, and we are doing and INLAND application.
i.e. for how long my visitor visa should be extended since I will be staying until my application is processed.

You really don't have to fill that in - they will make the determination of how long they'll extend your status. I believe for inland applicants it's normally a year because usually you're also applying to change your conditions to an open work permit (?) and those are issued valid for a year at a time.

Hopefully you understand the drawbacks to applying inland for PR. You will wait at least 7-8 months for them to even begin to assess your application, you are not able to leave Canada during processing because if you're not allowed to re-enter, you forfeit the inland application AND your sponsor gives up his/her right to appeal a refusal when applying inland. There are very specific situations where inland is advantageous - you don't have to apply inland just because you are in Canada and want to stay. You are able to apply outland and still submit an extension to your temporary status separately from the PR ap - with proof that you are an eligible PR applicant - and you can expect to be allowed to stay. Applying inland does not give you any special status - but, depending on which country you're from and all, inland could be to your benefit or could be faster processing. Normally, though, that's NOT the case.

Where are you from?

If you're applying outland you're going to send your extension application separately from your PR application, because the PR ap goes to CPC-Mississauga and CPC-Vegreville handles extension requests. Typically you'll ask for extension for the same period of time you were initially granted . . . for example, if they admitted you to Canada for six months, ask for another six months. If they gave you less time and you are visa-exempt, ask for six months. If they gave you a year initially, ask for another year. I was initially given a year on entry and I've had to apply now 4 times to extend and each time I've asked for another year. So far, so good . . . sorta. Well, last year they refused it, but the Minister of CIC overruled them and that's when I got a year's work permit. I applied to extend that and, apparently, now they have a problem with that, too. I just got a letter saying they need 60 more days to process my request and don't call them. They shouldn't worry - I'm under implied status anyway so they can take as long as they want. The longer they take, the better, because maybe by the time they're done dicking around, I'll have PR status. Plus, I don't want to talk to them anyway!!!

To apply for an extention go to cic website under visitors and you will find the links for application kits. You can apply on paper or online, I would highly suggest online as it takes only 50 days comparing to 107 on paper. When you fill in the form check extention visitor box and fill in the rest. You have to upload your documents and do not forget the document checklist. If you are applying for an extention and your PR is in process you need your passport page with photo, existing immigration document- your visa stamp, marriage certificate if you are married, if I were you I would attach bank account statements, a letter from your spouse or partner that he/she is willing to support you while you are here, his/her paystops confirming income. Basically anything else that could help to convince them you won`t be left without money. Depending on how long they allowed you to stay first ask for 6 months or a year. Usually you can get a year and hopefully by then your PR will be done. If you need more info let me know.:)

If you are from the U.S,, I would do outland through Buffalo. Check the timelines and you will see that it is a lot faster than inland, sometimes 3 months. You can still extend you visitor visa and stay while your application is in process. Robsluv wrote it already for someone else, if you had TRV for 6 months ask for another six and they might give you more. That was you question at all? :)

I applied for OWP with PR and my OWP is valid for 2 years. I was already on a work visa here in Canada when we applied for PR as well.
