Hi,

My Canadian visitor visa is getting expired on 2nd Feb.I have applied for an extension which has not come through. But I have received my PR approved and have sent my passport for stamping. Now,is it mandatory for me to land before 2nd of Feb?Given that my extension also gets approvEd,I will not be able to send my passport for visitor visa stamping as I will hAve to wait for my passport to return from the PR Visa stamping?

Did you apply for a new TRV or an extension of visitor status? There is no such thing as an extension of TRV.

Your landing date is one year from the date of your medicals or passport expiry, which one is earlier, regardless of your current TRV expiry.

Thank you for the explanation. But as soon as my passport is stamped for PR,does my visa status change from being a visitor to a PR of is landing necessary?I am asking because if landing is necessary to get the status changed,I will probably have to do it before 2nd or I will be out of status after 2nd since my visitor visa expires on the 2nd.

You only become a PR after you complete the landing formality.

As @bellaluna said, there's a difference between the expiration of your TRV, which is the visitor visa fixed in your passport, and the expiration of your visitor status in Canada. The expiration of your visa doesn't necessarily mean the expiration of your visitor status.
When did you last enter Canada as a visitor?
