So did you apply for spousal sponsorship over a year ago as that would have been your first step. You may have gotten sponsorship approved faster. If refused and you haven’t then start spousal sponsorship. Chances of TRV if you are PR are very low because spouse has to prove ties to return, and not coming to live in Canada.
Well, you never really know with IRCC and that's the problem. At the time, processing standard for outland sponsorships was 24 months, so we submitted a visitor visa application and declared dual intent for an inland sponsorship. Anyway since that is taking forever, we have gone ahead with outland sponsorship.
All in all, it would be good if IRCC could have clear cut rules and transparency around these things.

Clear rules and transparency about what? IRCC law is pretty clear about who is eligible for a TRV and who is eligible for spousal sponsorship. As for transparency, processing times change depending on backlogs per country. When Covid ended, TRV applications went up a hundred fold. Certain visa offices have more staff.

At this point it is best to wait for sponsorship approval. That way your spouse can work immediately when entering as PR.

I do not necessarily agree with you but there is no point going back and forth. We all know 2 people could have very similar applications, submitted within the same period, processed in the same visa office and the outcomes and processing times would be very different. Because at the end of the day, these things are dependent on the individual visa officers. That is what I meant about clear cut rules and transparency.

Tbh, I have no idea which office is treating mine. How can I find out? My eligibility also changed this month. You should try raising another webform and make it known to them that it has passed normal processing times with a screenshot of when she submitted her application.
I have Done 2 Web Forms, The first I got and reply saing that it will be process, the second time I didn't get any reply.

You can check you Office in this page:

Are you trying to visit family in Canada? When does your WP expire in Ireland? What kind of job do you have in an Ireland? Do you work in the tech industry in a professional capacity for example?
I am married to a European that allows me to work here.
I work with IT.
