We just got a visitor visa for my wife (letter stating "decision has been made. send in your passport to finalize the application) so I assume it's done. If a decision has been made, its either yes or no. If it's no, I can't see them requesting her passport - therefore........

Anyways... It only took a week to get this letter and I thought it was going to take 2 months based on the processing times listed on the website. Therefore, I requested travel dates for February to July. I want her to come to Canada NOW and not wait until February. My question is - when they put a visa in your passport, does it specifically list the dates you entered in the online website, or is it just valid for a certain number of days from the date she would enter?

Is there any way she can come before February now?

Thank you guys! We are waiting for a reply from the embassy via email but the wait is killing us....

She can arrive to Canada anytime between the date the visa is issued and the date it expired.
Yes usually if they request a passport it is a positive result :)

when did you applied and from where?

She is from Russia. We just applied online about a week ago.

So one more question - we applied for a visa for 6 months. Does it expire in 6 months from the time they give it? Or when her passport expires? Or how does that work??

Yes i gathered. ;D her passport expires in two years so that is not an issue.

I was wondering if the visa's are valid for a given period ie you have a 90 day visa...we requested 6 months. Or is that decided by immigration on arrival.

normally, if you request for a single entry, the VO's will give you six months visa stamp on your passport, but no one can tell long they can let you stay at the POE at the Canadian Border, it totally depends on the CBSA officers, but normally it is also six months for regular visitors, and upto one year for parents and grandparents. hope this helps.

Visa validity is different from duration of permitted stay. Validity on the visa is until when you can use the visa to enter/re-enter the country (re-enter if you have multiple-entry visas). The validity dates will be specified on your counterfoil affixed to the passport.

Duration of permitted stay will be known only at PoE, and is specified on the date on the stamp on your passport, or indicated in a visitor record. If there is no date under the stamp , for a visitor, the permitted duration is usually 6months counted from the date of entry.

Hi
from my own experience, if the application processed before the stated time, it's a refusal (except someone's got approved few times for TRV past years). best of luck to you and let us know the outcome.
