Hi all,

I am planning to apply for Outland PR sponsorship for my fiancé after our wedding in two months. My finance had a Canada visitor visa before which just expired in Jan this year.

Is it a good idea to apply for tourist right now with still being single and having a job in India? She shall apply along with her mom like her family wants to visit Canada for tourism. Her dad still has a valid Visitor visa.

I am planning to submit PR application in August on her behalf. Seeking advise as I’ve been hearing lot of tourist rejections these days. She will be out of her job soon and my concern is her visitor might get rejected if we apply for the same after the PR application even with dual intent. Please help.

Thanks in advance.

Nothing is guaranteed. Has she travelled to Canada before? Recently? Had she applied her own for the TRV or was she still a dependent of her parents? Has she done a lot of international travel especially to countries like the US, UK, Australia, etc. How much savings does she have? Her job would be a tie but typically you would also submit proof of approved leave as proof that she would be returning to her job after her trip to Canada. What would be your wife and MIL’a reason for travel? They will be separate applications. Have they traveled together before without the father accompanying them? Why is your spouse planning on leaving her job while she waits for sponsorship or to be approved for a TRV? Would personally suggest you apply to sponsor her and once you receive AOR then apply for a TRV. If you are Canadian you can start the sponsorship process while abroad while if you’re a PR you’ll need to be in Canada to apply. Nobody is guaranteed a TRV but getting approved for a TRV as a spouse being sponsored is relatively common these days while is used to be almost impossible. Being employed and having your own funds typically helps when it comes to getting approved for the TRV. Also a good thing to keep working while waiting for the result of the TRV application or if denied the sponsorship process. Stamping is taking another 5ish weeks so would be better to work and save some money and get more work experience while waiting.

Thanks for your reply. She has not travelled to Canada before but her trip was cancelled due to Covid when borders were closed. She was a dependent when this visa was applied. She has done a lot of international travel within Asia and also been to the US couple times, still has a valid US visitor visa.

She is leaving the job due to her personal situation with the job, and I thought it would be better to prepare for CPA as she is planning on moving here soon. She does not have any significant savings to show as she just started working in the past year. Wife and MILs reason for travel would be tourism along with her dad to visit Niagara, Whistler, etc.

I was thinking that the tourist visa would be approved given her travel history to US and also other Asian countries. Also hoping that the application of her mom along with hers would support the reason being family visit not mentioning me in that application.

Thanks again. Appreciate your help.

She is an adult so her application will be considered on her own. If she has little savings not sure how she would qualify for a TRV. She appears to have no ties without the job. As an adult she would be expected to be able to find the visit herself. The US visits will benefit her application. I assume the travel was as an adult and not a dependent. As a dependent wouldn’t be as strong. The travel within Asia doesn’t count for much because it is fairly easy to visit much of these countries. She can certainly try and apply for a TRV before marriage but her chances are likely higher after you’ve received AOR from the sponsorship application.

Thank you. It makes sense.

She has travelled as an adult to the US once and also to UK once.

If her TRV gets rejected now, would it be likely to get rejected if we reapply for tourist after the PR application AOR?

Thanks

It will be assessed based on difference in circumstances so doesn’t guarantee a 2nd refusal.
