Hello,

I am processing my brother's visitor visa application and there seems two different types of application available:

1. visitor visa – to visit my spouse, common-law partner, dependent child, parent, step-parent, guardian or tutor
2. visitor visa – to visit other family member

I am sending the invitation letter to my brother and they will stay mostly at my place. But the purpose of their visit is to attend the birthday event of our father. Should I choose #1 or #2 from the above list?

Thanks

You say brother but then say “they will stay”. Your brother can say 1 if father is PR/citizen. Other family members are 2.

With "they", I meant my brother's family. Both my father and I are citizens, but I am the one who sending out the invitation letter and they will stay in my place during their visit. Should I still choose #1 (visiting parent)?

Your brother can be #1 if mentioning birthday or #2. Spouse and children are #2. Assume children are minors. Your brother and his family need to show their own funds to support a visit, ties to home country and travel history. If not showing own funds then that is a red flag. Funds are cash in the bank and they should not use all their savings. Not sure where they live but processing can be long.
