Hi,

does anyone have any experience or knowledge about Visitor Visa extension? I am a Slovenian citizen (EU) and we don't need a visa for up to 6 months - just got a stamp when I flew in the country. I'd like to stay longer (at least another 6 months). Does anyone have any experience with the process? Is it straightforward or are they reluctant to extend it?

Also, there is no mention of the amount of funds they want you to have in you bank account. Any idea about that?

Last question: my status expires at the end of March and if I get an extension, I'll be able to stay for another 6 months, during which I would like to go to Alaska and come back to Canada (most probably crossing the US-CAD border with a bus and flying to Alaska). When I re-enter Canada, do I get another 6 months or not? And does it make any difference if I fly or cross the border by land?

Really hope someone can answer my questions. I'd greatly appreciate it!

Thanks guys ;D

It all depends in your specifics. If your intentions are law abiding and you have the correct documentation the process should be straight forward.

There is no set amount. It all depends on your specifics.

No. Time does not reset when travelling from CAN-USA.

Thanks, Jalex :D

So my time doesn't extend even I fly to Alaska?

What if my visitor visa in Canada expires, while in the US. Do I then get granted another 6 months?

Thanks again!!!

No.

If your Visitor Status expires while you are out of the Canada then when you try to re-enter you will again be assessed by a CBSA officer which can refuse your entry or give you up to 6 months.

You can't have a Canadian visitor visa since you are from a Visa exempt country.

Thank you again.

How is it with double extension? I might want to stay longer. Can I apply for another extension? Any idea if they're more reluctant to give the 2nd extension?

Thanks :D

As long as your intentions make sense and you qualify they will keep giving you as many extensions as you request. Obviously each extension gets tougher.
