Visitor extension refused - what to do now?

You can apply for restoration of status (to visitor status) as long as you apply within 90 days of the refusal.

I am not sure what that bit means about "person in immigration legislation".

You were not issued a removal order just a refusal and while you are technically now in Canada "illegally" you don't have to pack up and leave. Submit the restoration application and wait it out. Mine took just under 3 months.

You are currently out of status.

If you are refused restoration you must then leave.

As they re-entered in December, they have valid status until June.

Because you are not a dependent of your mother and you only have visitor status, you do not qualify to change your status to student within Canada. You need to apply by mail to a VO in the US or your home country.

hi Canuk... so the only option left for me is to go back to my home country or the US and re-apply my application there?

my mom already requested the Foreign Affairs in the Philippines for my diplomatic passport since she’ll be paying for my education here... shall we wait for that?

I didn't say you need to go to your country or the US. You need to mail the app there.

I don't know anything about diplomatic passports and what you can do with it.
