Its not a hypothetical thing. People has got this info from support centers in past. But then they are always being warned by people on these forums to not take support staff seriously. Thats what I asked, What else can one rely on. Anyways I will try that when its time and let you guys know the response.
You referred to a webform response in writing that has not yet come. When you get a written response, please share.

Yes, I'm skeptical of advice from call centre agents that is not in writing.

Finally, my family got the PR. The PR was a result of spousal sponsorship process. I wanted to come back here and share my experience.

I am a PR living in Canada with my family abroad. I visited them thrice over the 20 months of PR process.

First - 2 weeks (2 months into the PR process)
Second - 1.5 months (8 months into the PR process)
Third - 2.5 months (16 months into the PR process)

Staying away from family for 20 months is not a joke and so no matter how many advised me against doing so, I went a head and did it anyway. So, just know I am one of those Sponsor's who stepped outside Canada while the PR was in process.

This may or may not be against the rules, but I thank the immigration officers for considering my travel with a courtesy.

Good luck!!

There was either more flexibility due to covid or they haven’t realized you were outside for such a long period of time. Still would not risk this unless you are prepared to reapply. There was a recent example where it was only discovered that the PR sponsoring their spouse was out of Canada for a long period when the family applied for something else. It may have involved the child. Since the wife hadn’t landed the COPR was cancelled. Not sure if they have landed but when they land you can really breathe a sigh of relief.

You travel makes sense. They are a little longer than a typical holiday. But compare to some that planned to stay for 6 months and more at a time, it's reasonable.

:) good to hear that everything went smooth!
