Hello,
I stayed in Canada in 2012 for 7 months in a row (applied for online extension so no overstay).
After spending 7 months in Canada on a tourist visa (stamp) I drove down to the border in Alberta to apply for a work visa, had all the documents ready etc.
The immigration officer was clearly looking for any reason to not approve my visa, started asking many questions and eventually decided to refuse my request.
After that, he let me back into the country but allowed me to stay only 1 week and said "you must leave the country within a week, if not- police can arrest you" etc.
He also mentioned that I can try to apply again with my documents for the work permit in my home country.
I am not sure if this was a deportation, because he basically just let me back into the country freely.
However, on the day I left Canada the immigration officers escorted me from the office at the airport (before the passport control) all the way to the gate, then they left and I waited there by myself.
Ever since, I have changed the passport twice (first time renewal due to expiry and second time I lost it in Thailand).
Now, 7 years later, I would like to visit Canada with my girlfriend for about 10 days.
Given my past experience I am worried they might won't let me into the country.
So my question is- how likely am I to get refused when trying to enter Canada again as a tourist?
