I would like to invite and sponsor my boyfriend to visit Canada for a week or two. He is currently in the States on a visitor visa and is originally from Pakistan. I would like to know if the CIC will send any correspondence to me at my address in Canada regarding the whole process. Also, would sponsoring his trip affect my tax in any way or show up in my tax records?

The people I live with cannot know about the sponsorship or the invitation, hence the question. Please answer if you have sponsored or invited a friend or family member for a visitor visa before and how the process was for you.

As the host, you cannot sponsor him to visit. You can only invite him.

The length of his intended visit must be pre-decided, for example from XX to XX date... to indicate a well-thought out visit.

Ideally, he should have applied for a TRV when he was in Pakistan instead of the US where he has temporary status. It's advisable to apply from the country where one has the strongest ties.

It's possible that IRCC could contact you if they need any information/clarifications but we haven't come across this recently.

The short answer: No

Your bf would must prove that he can afford the visit with his own finances. You can offer to support his stay by providing accommodation/pay for his travel and other expenses, but this is not binding on you. Your finances are secondary for a TRV application.

Also, as the host, it is not mandatory for you to provide your bank statements/ employment letter/ pay stubs/NOA etc for his application
